Well, I posted this on the Energica Owners Group on Facebook. Maybe that will draw some traffic. At least get you a few dollars for it, or at the very least not cost you anything to get rid of it.

I'm curious what you ended up doing with the big battery?

I second that. If my Zero battery ever died, I have no idea how I would get rid of it. My local recycling/garbage company sure wouldn't take it.

There are some places that would take the battery but they might charge you for it.
not sure about where he lives, but here in jax the city has a hazwaste where you can bring batteries, paint, oil, stuff like that to dispose of properly.  im pretty sure many places in florida have the same kind of facilities.

i offered to take it off his hands, and even pay for it but well, he was disgusted with it all.  Can't say I blame him, that kind of stuff gets real frustrating.  it's a shame he threw it into the dump, i know many people who'd have paid well for the motor / inverter, a lot of things, that's a few grand right there, id have popped a grand or so for the battery if he wanted to sell after opening and inspecting.  20kw of storage with only 4 years, it's got plenty of life left for solar storage.  even the insurance companies when these bikes get totalled, the salvage price is like 3400 dollars, that's what they put on my experia, i tried to argue but they said, once it's sent for 'destruction' that's basically scrap price.  if he had full coverage on it, that's a claim there with most companies.  it was not his fault, and not normal wear and tear, or 'shit just happened'.  like getting water in your diesel fuel and destroying the injection system, insurance paid for repairs once it was shown the water got in at the gas station... without getting too nitty, it'd been a bit of a back and forth, (yah i know you said fuck it, ive done that too on some things) but a few grand would have been a nice down payment on a new whatever bike.

FWIW, for those wondering, where could i get rid of stuff like that when the time comes...look up robotics clubs and geek stuff like that where you live, the colleges most all of them have them, they'd love to get servo's, batteries, hi torque motors, controllers for their projects, and the fact it's a 'refurb' further fit's into the nerd-cred, so.. yeah. im talking with a guy from one of the classes they teach up here in jax on EV battery maint, care, etc etc about some things now in fact.

A Tesla wall is only 14 kW so yeah a 20 kW should be worth something, to someone who already knows what they are doing or wants to learn with a project.

A matched motor and controller are supposed to be pretty valuable to enthusiasts for go-cart type things.

Then there's the fully functional rolling chassis. That's pretty valuable for someone who wants to throw a 2-stroke in it.
