If they had to have a govt bailout then they were NOT doing well PERIOD !! Giving huge bonus' to keep the workers happy, even if you are failing was NEVER a good idea, contrary to what the marxist / communist goon morons in the unions continue to regurgitate.
This bullshit with GM, as an example, too big to fail. Now they have shitty products, their electronics just plans suck, have for a good decade or more now, and there are no efforts to fix it because why? we lose another 3 billion the govt will just keep throwing more money at us, NO NEED TO BE BETTER !!! because there are no repercussions for being shitty. Without the govt titty to suck on, they would have had to get leaner, get better, to earn their customer base back and BE better, not just be fatter.
Economies work when the government keeps it's hands OUT of it and lets it take it's natural course.
