No. I the green charging light just went off. I did hear a pop, a bit of smoke and a bad smell. As soon as that happened, I pulled the plug and was happy that there was no fire.

Well, pulled the MBB out and disconnected it so I could try hardware resetting the MBB. Still the same issue with the charger, so guess I've eliminated everything now and I'll just wait to pony up for a new one

Maybe I'm just stupid but I don't see how that confirms that it's definitely the charger at fault. It may not even be the MBB, it could be a broken connection somewhere between it and the charger.

I have a Quiq charger and that works just fine, from what I understand that means the 100A charging fuse is good. I replaced the 10A fuse and fuse holder that is supposedly problematic on these, so that eliminates that. Some wiring issue is a possibility but having been all up in this bikes wiring none of it looked damaged or loosely connected. Onboard charger sounds like a relatively common failure on these models from the forums, so sounds like I just got unlucky buying a secondhand one.

Well the quiq charger doesn't use the same communication as the on board charger, all it does is tell the bike that a charger is attached and to keep the contactor closed if the bike is keyed off. I may be mistaken but I think the quiq will put out power once it's plugged into the mains without needing the bike to tell it to do so.
