technology is already here

silicon carbide - its possible to achieve 3kW from 1L capacity with 96-97% efficency so with proper cooling its easy to fit 6kW in live wire



meanwhile energica for example still using 3kW charger which was also mounted in first volvo plugins in (2011-2012)

I want show to you my 120$ ebike charger
pic in attachment

 1,8kW server rectifier/psu with CAN controll added - only 0-100V range but 3 of them in series and I can charge livewire in theory with 5kW easy (also from 1 or 3phase)
weight 1,1kg, volume dimenions 1L, only if original CANbus can be updated in bike or something

also this PSU is from 2012-2014 I think

Putting them in series.  What's the insulation rated at?   That could be putting an awful lot of stress on each component.  If the dielectric value is not high enough, over time it's going to find it's way home in a bad way.

I am not gonna use it, i have external DC charger

my point is - this small charger has 1,6-1,8kW at 230V, and cost 120$, HD charge 5000$ for less power - and I know - chagrers have to be safe etc, but this shouldnt cost that much - especially these while they die a lot

It costs a lot because it's critical, you can't run without it, they got you by the balls.

A printer cost 80 dollars, a few teaspoons full of ink, which is little more than water, and some coloring, cost 180 dollars.  Why?  Because it can, you NEED it, it don't work without it. they got you, that's how they get their money.  Lets punch out a bunch of cheap ass chargers, keep the initial cost down, and then sock it to them when it fries a year or so down the road with a 3g ticket for a new one.  Yep, sounds about right.

yes, same with my stiga lawnmower tractor - battery cost 95% of price of whole new vehicle, and you can't buy BMS - its has CAN communication so if bms fails in future (i hope not) I have to sell whole tractor for parts

My first charging today (AC)

previous owner said - OBC was replaced but I can't charge it today :(

I have 3 evse:
- my tesla mobile connector (hardwired) works with car
- tesla mobile with shucko adapter (this one I get with bike - shorter cable, but before I bought i tested it and it works)
- mennekes blue evse (shucko 13A)


at first I plugged all three one by one - no reaction - energy meter 0W but bikes give me estimated time to full 1:20, I waited 5min but nothing happed

so I shut the bike off - and start plugging once again - this time - mobile connectors relays click and I got 4-6W on energry meter, but no charging

last one I plug this blue mennekes whie bike was off, and after few seconds charging started


also weird thing - OBC is power limited not current like in other evs

this mean you will always get 1660W power - if voltage is 250V then 6,7A, if 200V then 8,3A

got charger 3 days ago

unfortunanetly not work with HD, with energica it works

i try to lower max voltage but even on 300VDC not charge it (when its about to start, charger off with red led error) :(

battery it has two DC connectors

from CCS socket directly to battery (separated plugs HV+ and HV-) on back side

also from OBC one connector to battery (top side) which is

PLUG PN 1-2103015-1
SOCKET has only these numbers 1A PA66-GF33 HVA280


I wondering if I make simple Y type splitter - properly insulated and to other DC+ and DC- I put custom 294VDC max charger (for example 10A) I will get about 4-5kW AC charging possibility

UPDATE:
my DC charger now works

it has to be connected in certain way
1. CCS PLUG to socket of harley
2. switch breaker on charger
3. wait for boot up (10-15s)(just wait for green LED)
4. start charging on LCD
5. works

also voltage has to be set up at 760V - I dont know why, but with 760V and start up procedure it works

I tried with HD two times, energica one time and tesla one time

after few months I will make update if I had any problems
