Specs from a quick reading:
- 13kWh battery
- 134HP
- 200Nm (147ft-lbs) torque
- 260kg (573lbs) weight
- 160km/h top speed (limiter)
- DC charging (CCS probably) with ~1C rate.


They apparently won't ship until they can improve the range into the 200km-300km bracket (125mi to 185mi).

So....heavy, decent torque and horsepower but in line with existing bikes (unless 1500 Nm torque???), decent charging rate, mediocre battery size/range, no discernible aerodynamics. And since it's a beemer, probably very expensive.

Doesn't seem like much of a step forward, catching up at best. At least it gives another alternative to the cramped-up sportbike ergonomics.

Clearly a work in progress. I would say that BMW is at least 5 years behind Zero and Energica in the development of an electric motorcycle that will compete with those two brands in the marketplace.

We really need a breakthrough in battery technology.  I know that Lithium is a lot lighter than NiMH or other technologies, but a modern electric bike at 573 lbs is still too much.  When I originally heard of electric motorcycles, I was looking forward to something without the heft of an ICE engine.  'Looks like it was just replaced with a battery instead.

Sometimes, you have to accept a tradeoff to get something previously unattainable. BMW isn't shipping this bike because they don't feel this makes acceptable tradeoffs yet. So, don't worry about them forcing you to choose an overweight bike yet.
