Brammo announces production Empulse specifications
« on: April 18, 2012, 09:19:25 PM »

And here they are:  http://m.prnewswire.com/news-releases/brammo-reveals-new-details-for-empulse-and-empulse-r-electric-sport-bikes-147904985.html

I expect the Empulse to handle better and have better performance than a ZF9 Zero S, but it does not appear that its range will be much better. However, I do like the faster charger. I also expect the price of the Empulse (which has not yet been announced) to be significantly more expensive than the Zero, based upon the Empulse's quality Italian-sourced chassis components, larger motor, larger charger, cooling system, gearbox and higher build quality, along with it greater weight. All of that stuff costs money and I expect the Empulse to be priced in Ducati territory, my guess is around $18,000 USD.

And speaking of Ducati, they are apparently going to be purchased by Audi for something like 800 million Euros, plus their outstanding debt.  :o   I guess Audi has money to burn.

yeah, and Audi is doing a sports EV as it looks with great Audi perfection now. so an item to watch.

- so can they push the conservative and slow (MotoGP) Ducati to do something revolutionary ?

as for Barmmo Empulse - different bike - if it ever comes. A traditional sports bike setup. Zero is Dual Sport and with the S a fun motard/"super"moto. Not yet aiming to mimic as well a sports bike. Guess the look with fairings and other handlebars could be changed to get closer to sports bike -- might be an idea.

Or better even - like HArley Evo's use the Zero base and then you can configure your bike to your desire in different styles. Naked, motard, sportsbike, retro ??? if Zero does not start that I do it !

Ultimate Motorcycling has picked up the story:  http://www.ultimatemotorcycling.com/2012/brammo-reveals-details-of-2012-empulse

Nothing new, though.

So the new, new Empulse will do 100miles at upt to 100mph for nearly $20k. Mimicing a full on sports bike. In this price bracket you really get a full blown Italian ICE bike with the works. Comapring that to Tesla/Porsche I would say that Tesla is much closer on the mark.

Anyway, not for me. Like the simplicity and hope that Zero simple ups the voltage to get more of the line speed on their bikes and avoids water cooling, gears, .... yeah, can use some better parts and updated design as it makes sense for this class of motorcycle.
