plug CCS2

socket input - 3phase
CEE32 plug or TYPE2 (lcd start even on 1phase, but obviously will not charge)

it has adjustable current and voltage (have to set up before charging start)

it has manual mode (for pro users only) it can work without communication - (live voltage on terminals) so its possible to charge any battery which has voltage between 200-750V, of course battery has to have livevoltage on terminals (not ccs socket)

Is this something you plan to distribute to USA consumers by any chance? 
What would it cost?

 How does it compare to a unit such as SETEC offers?

I imported it directly from China for personal use

cost me in total about 1700euro

works with tesla and energica ss9 (CCS2) and EGO CCS1 thought CCS2 adapter

unfortunanelty with harley livewire it not start :(

I bought it mostly for future use with rivian r1t

I went with the setec myself because it could feed off our mains  240v and not need any playing with to get going. plug it in and push the start on the display.  There were some models in the US but none close to the 30kw i wanted and the price was obnoxious on them.

if you got 3 phase where you live, use that, will be more efficient than single phase.  Another nice thing about Setec, they'll custom build whatever you need for you.

SETEC is a great unit.  I priced the one you posted information about, Aaron, and it is more than double the price of the unit above from the thread starter.  Curious to know who makes it and where it was purchased to compare.

I suppose you often get what you pay for, but not always!

in Poland every house (even newer flats/apartments) has 3phases. FLats has 16-25 and houses usually has 25-32A breakers (somtimes 40A), max for personal use is 63A and I of course I have 63A which give me 43kW easy + I had 20kW of solar panels, so in PEAK i can charge 60kW :D

also one phase is limited to usually 32A and I think only cars use that kind of current - almost every other tool above 3-4kW rated power is 3 phase

bcoz its not good for grid - in sunny day solar panels boosting voltage on grid (inverters shutting off while voltage is above 253V and loading one phase cause voltage drop on only one phase but other two increase it

so at 250V charging 11kW will drop voltage on every phase about 3-5V (depend of location) and charging 11kW on one phase will drop voltage about 20-25V on one and increase about 5-9V on other two


about charger itsfelf - working like your setec - plug cable , trip switch breaker on charger and start charge

disadvantages:
- at 50A is very loud (25-30A is ok) i saw liquid cooling modules but company which I ordered mine tells me they dont have it
- current is adjustable but you can set it up only before you start it - you cant adjust it during charging (of course with energica is not the issue bcoz adjusting current in menu works and charger respect that)


in price of setec you can have 40-60kW version with RS485/wifi communication and other features

That's so odd that they'd intentionally have you unbalance the phases like that, even playing with the 277 on a Y that's just odd because normally you want all 3 balanced.  In an extreme situation you slip a pole and it's going to be a bad day for your power plant boys.

i am playing around with a device now that i can feed my solar directly into charging the bike.  the array is set up for about 370 volt max, so plenty to drive it into the pack.   ideally it will charge at what you tell it max, for me it'd be 15 Amps max, but of course is only going to put in what the panels make.  hoping it works just like any ccs1 charger, only difference is, the chargers max is of course going to vary.  i don't think that will cause an issue with shut downs or anything.     ideally i just plug into my array and put whatever it can into my bike and as it approaches full charge ,it tapers down, etc etc. just does it's thing.  worse  case just tell it, when you hit 341 volts have an ssr open up the charge circuit.  it's just more goofy shit to play with, my thinking is, fewer parts and conversions, more power, ideally sun to panels to  on/off switch to fuse to battery.  not much simpler than that. 
since it looks like my experia is about to be totalled i'll have a bike to experiment on  :( so wont have to worry about any warranty issues.

in agreement with energy company it is something about uneven load on phases and i think they mention about 30-32A difference

max differences between voltages I saw about 10-15V (without my input) (my input 32A 7kW can make dadditional 15-18V drop ) but I dont need charge car that much - usually I use 3-4kW of power (if I really need more I will hook up this DC charger)


I heard about DC-DC solar dc chargers for vehicles 3-4years ago on different fairs/expos and still we dont have finished product

in theory solar hybrid inverters will charge your car direclty (as they can charge HV battery storage) just probably you need PLC controller to CCS connection

still 20kW inverter which has 25A max charging capabilty cost more than this charger

We have an MPPT solar boost converter we engineered in-house for use on our vans.  It can take DC from a series solar string about 100-250v and directly charge an EV pack with >99% efficiency, and depending on array configuration could do up to around 3kW.   In our use-case it connects to the BMS over CAN to obey the charge current limits, and the UI to set the upper charge limit.   But it could be modified to work with CCS.

if it have boost from 100V to 350V it not will be 99% efficient

in theory everything is easy, so why we dont have that kind of chargers on market yet?

how much your 3kW converter cost?

It's a direct boost MPPT using a 2 phase SiC based boost converter.   We only (presently) sell it as part of our solar option on our vans, it was linked in my previous post.   The reason it's more efficient is because it's doing a direct boost, non-isolated.  Commercial chargers are not as efficient because they have the added burden of galvanic isolation.  Note the complete lack of heat sink or fan cooling, the housing is more than adequate for the small amount of waste heat it generates.

If there was a business case to modify them for other uses, then maybe we could do that, but it only makes sense if the volume supports the NRE engineering costs.

every solution has its pros and cons:

"my" AC - DC charger works on grid but as you say its a conversion so its heat up and its loud, but you can use it as onboard charger on vehicle or charge on trips if you have access on grid

your is DC to DC - so solar or battery is required to work

hard to tell which solution is better, in my opinion and from my point of view if you can do 20kW unit with similar price to AC/DC unit - maybe some ppl wil buy
