My '19 Bolt EV was trivially clearly eligible for the tax credit, yet it took 4 letters back and forth to the IRS over 2 years before it was finally accepted. So good luck actually getting an IRS credit within a complicated rule system. And the 87,000 new IRS agents will make it harder, not easier. And the credits help automakers to increase retail prices to take most of the money, just as universities can do with loan forgiveness. What a debacle.

I think California is still offering rebates ($750?) to purchasers of new electric motorcycles, but the rebate depends upon your gross income as reported to the IRS. If you make too much money, no rebate for you.

It's 150K$ max income.  I am just a little over that amount, figures!  My Experia will have a CA plate, but that won't do me any good. See here.

After reading the attached article that was published in my newspaper yesterday it sure looks like fully battery-powered vehicles are getting the short end of the stick when it comes to the IRS rebate credit for purchasing an EV car. And of course, motorcycles don't even get any part of the stick as they were cut out of the program entirely. If you buy a hybrid car with a 7 kWh battery you can get the full $7,500 rebate, but if you buy a motorcycle with two or three times the battery capacity of a hybrid you get zippo.

I don't think I would have circled the same paragraphs as you did.  The title makes sense as described in the article with limited domestic ingredients using those ingredients in smaller packages will yield more "cars" that qualify.  Not even sure if car covers all vehicles isn't there a price difference max to qualify depending on vehicle type.

Whether some of the stuff goes against existing trade agreements with foreign nations seems quite possible.  We here in the USA have been scared 100% tariffs are coming on certain displacement European motorcycles because of some dispute I think it was agricultural subsidies in Europe.

Sounds like Tesla who had used up all their subsidies at the lessening purchase price aspect now will find itself in the best position to gobble up this batch of incentives compared to others.

This probably sounds bizzare but if the object is to reduce carbon dioxide tail pipe emissions somehow figure out how to make the incentives to replace higher mileage user's vehicle.

I originally cut that article out and circled those paragraphs for a friend of mine who keeps talking about switching to an all-electric car to replace his ICE sedan. I thought those comments would be of interest to him when considering what to do about his next car purchase plans.  It was only later when I thought to post it here. Most of the time I don't outline specific areas of an EV article unless it has something to do with motorcycles when posting an article here.
