Here is an interesting solution to your home power needs, the BoxPower. Not very elegant and a tad expensive, but if you have room in your backyard, here is this company's solution to PG&E's intermittent power shutoffs. Good luck getting your neighborhood design committee or local government planning commission to approve its architectural design, though
