Here is an interview with Jagdeep Singh from the YT channel Muno Live with all around smart guy Sandy Munro.
He's talking about the Lithium metal batteries that QuantumScape is working on.  He is claiming only their ceramic separator can prevent dendrites.  Of course he keeps saying "that I know of" too.

Bottom line is they are getting closer to MUCH better batteries in the not too far off future.
