Hey everyone,

I'm about to purchase my first electric motorcycle, today hopefully.  I want to know if anyone has already transported one -- layed down on it's side -- in the back of an SUV.  It would be layed down for about 4 hours to get it home.  And there's another one that I'm also considering that's 7.5 hours away.

I'd love to ride them home, but one is a 13kWh & the other is a 14.4kWh.  They don't have Power Packs, Charge Packs, & they have stock chargers.

Anybody know if it's ok?

I looked at the online Zero manual & it recommends that the motorcycle be tied-down using
ratchet straps while it is being transported & has a drawing of a motorcycle that looks like it's upright.  I called a Zero dealer & their Zero tech said it should be ok.  I'll be careful to tighten the brake fluid reservoir caps & tape plastic bags on them in case they may leak.

Have you transported them on their side?

The only real risk is the brakes.  Make sure no brake lines are pinched and to give each brake a good squeeze and shake when you bring it back upright

There shouldn't be air in them, but you never really know.

OTOH, you can now truthfully brag that you intentionally laid your bike down...

Yeah, brakes are the only components that I knew to be careful with & bleed them just in case there may be are in the lines afterward. 
Wow, I see you have a reservation for an Aptera!  What an awesome leap in auto tech & design!!!  REALLY designing for practical purposes

......PRACTICAL PURPSE DRIVEN DESIGNING -- important designing, finally!!  There are soo many vehicles that are soo homogenous, uugg.  And not safe enough.
I want one too, because it's so costly & time consuming to create such a vehicle on your own -- I have my own tandem seat, narrow 3-wheel, efficient, safer commuter vehicle design.  I appreciate the design of the Aptera.  Please post pics when you get yours & share your experience with it.   
I can't wait for all vehicles to be made BETTER -- they're not efficient or safe enough -- when they actually could be, if the manufacturers decided to do so.  I'm happy for you.

Basically you've got to resave your pic at a smaller size or worse quality or both. I think there's a built in photo diddler in Windows that can do that (I use Affinity Photo but that costs money)

You might take a minute to remove the brake reservoir and situate it upright. I would do it for the peace of mind for a simple effort.

I too put down a deposit on the Aptera and then cancelled and reordered after they offered "buy one, get another free". However, this and the fact they are grossly underfunded make me skeptical that I'll ever see it. I fear yet another false start from Aptera. But I try to hold up my hopes! About the same Wh/mi. as my Zero!
