Article on the highest performance motorcycles out there including Zero and Brammo.  Short article and lots of uninformed comments at the bottom.  (Not sure if it's worth commenting, but I got sucked into it once.  Probably won't go back if anyone responds to my posts.)

Anyway, nice to see more press for ebikes!

Thats going to get a lot worse in my opinion.
Up till pretty much the beginning of the other year (2012) Electric bikes could be easily ignored as slow heavy short ranged machines.
2014 is shaping up to be a breakthrough year for the electrics, and next year is looking very strong indeed as well. As a result with the SR's and Empulse R's on the market, and with Mission, Lightening, Energia and the like waiting in the wings, the electrics are a lot harder to ignore and write off.

A lot of bikers are starting to feel slightly threatened, and given how passionate some of them are, they are going to be very vocal about how much they dislike the electrics. Also given how stunningly conservative bikers tend to be as well, its going to be a bumpy ride over the next couple of years.

The good news is that the electric bike market appears to be emerging quite nicely, and bikers who try them tend to be converted afterwards.

It's true... I have no idea why, but I see it. I was talking to a co-worker the other day about electric bikes (he rides a 250cc Ninja) and he smirked at the idea of any electric bike that could instill any "excitement". When I told him that the world's fastest production bike is electric, and that the winner of the Pike's Peak race was on an electric bike... he got angry and defensive!

I've been riding gas powered bikes for over 40 years and never felt threatened by a different/new type of bike. I don't get it. No one is suggesting that all gas bikes must be traded in for electrics... hey, actually... that's a good idea! I'll write my congressman right now! How about, "Cash for Two-Wheeled Clunkers"?

I think it is just human nature for some people to be afraid of change and of anything new - and that includes a whole range of subjects and not just vehicle technology.  I know I still don't know what to do with a cell phone or why anyone would want one.    ::)  Although I will admit to replacing my black and white television set a few years ago with one of those new color ones.

Maybe it is an endowment effect?
