Cool!  I wonder how they would have done without the crash and if they started with the extra batteries and chargers.  Are any of the team on EMF?

It would be interesting to see, with enough help on pit stops and plenty of spare batteries, just how fast they could be running flat out and changing batteries when needed.  30 mins doesn't seem like long for a 5.7

That is really impressive.  I doubt I could maintain my concentration racing on a cart track for 30 minutes, much less hours at a time and for a 24-hour race.  Both the FX, the riders and the entire team all deserve a big hand.

I don't think the crash is what sealed our fate.  I'm sure we would have won or at least been on the podium had we not unexpectedly been left without extra batteries and charging capability as the FX is significantly faster than the rest of the bikes we were competing against.  It wasn't until the second half of the race that we had all the equipment we needed to fully charge the batteries between sessions.  The power and torque was turned all the way down and we just needed to keep a steady pace.  We had three sets of batteries on rotation, one set in the bike and two charging.

We were racing on a kart track so it is not as fast as it is technical. I think a skilled rider who is able to carry the speed through the corners could get a half hour out of a set of batteries. The main reason we reduced the torque was because the organizer was concerned that our bike was much too fast to be racing against the rest of the bikes. Even with the torque turned down, no bike was any match on the straightaways against the FX.
