Electric motorcycles on sale in the US
« on: April 22, 2011, 04:01:47 AM »

The 2011 Cycle World Buyer's Guide is out and provides a short description of the 440 motorcycles on sale in the US. Electric motorcycles are represented in the magazine and consist of the following models:

Brammo Empulse ($9995 to $13,995)
Brammo Enertia Plus ($8995)
Brammo Enertia ($7995)
Zero S/DS (price not available)
Zero MX/MX Street (price not available)

Nothing new there, but here are two new electric/hybrid two-wheel vehicles:

Hyosung ST-E3 EVA (price not available) This is a 50cc-size scooter with a 1.5kW brushless DC electric motor powered by a battery pack. It claims a range of 62 miles at 22 mph and has a claimed top speed of 40 mph. Wheels are 12 inch, brakes are drum at both ends and it comes in a wide range of colors, from plain white to hot pink.

Piaggio is selling their three wheeled MP3 Hybrid for $8499. It has a 125cc IC engine supplemented by an electric motor.

And that seems to be about it for production electric motorcycles this year.
