The big Harley dealership down the street from me in Lynnwood Washington closed for good last week. The clock is ticking on the rest of them.

A commentator on Electrek seemed to think that this Zero scooter is the same as the CSC ES5 that you can buy right now for $2k off. Just in case anyone is interested and doesn't want to pay for the Zero badge or wait for availability.

Oh wow, that does seem to be the case. Some of the dimensions are exact (wheelbase and seat height) and the battery pack looks identical and the same capacity and even the battery compartments are the same, dash and the surrounding plastics looks the same. The peak power stated for the Zero is 8.4kW versus 8kW for the ES5 and the top speed is higher, although the sustained speed is the same as the max on the ES5. I was thinking perhaps Zero would at least use their own motor and a different controller but given how much else they have in common it's probably more likely they've just turned it up a bit in software. Makes me wonder if the XE and XB are just rebrands too of some other Surron clone.
