I have two friends that just tried out this technique and they told me that it works to open up their Sentry-brand home safes and they didn't even have to use a rare-earth magnet. Since all of the crooks already know this, I thought I would post it to give everyone a "heads up".
Fortunately, my small cheap home safe uses a standard key and lock system, so the burglars will just have to pick it up, carry it off and hit it with a hammer to open it.
