DSR/X belt tension
« on: October 14, 2025, 01:46:05 AM »

I finally got there - bought a DSR/X. I've ridden some older Zeros plus SRS & DSR/X so I knew what to
expect. I'm really pleased with the bike but wondering about belt tension now I've covered a little over 100 miles.

The manual states 62-84hz. Using the Gates app, the belt tension on my bike is approx 50hz but feels pretty tight to
me. There's around 12mm of free movement in the middle of the bottom belt run. Not very precise I know, but in view of
reported belt failures, I would like other users opinions.

If you take my advice it will cost you around $30.
Not to me but rather to Amazon (or other vendor).

Is what I use (Gates Krikit)
I like to check about every 1k miles.
I believe your belt specs are wider then my 2016 DSR so recommend running on the lower end rather then the higher/tighter end to minimize stress on bearings.

I do it purely by feel now. If I can just twist the belt 90 degrees in each direction from the middle, it's good.

Cas :)

Same here, never broke one in 93'000 km. The shop changing my tires do a lot of work on Harleys so I trust them with handling my belt.
