I've ordered another Sevcon already but as he (Max) points out and I can verify the pack's fully charged voltage is too close to the unit's upper limit so it's a matter of "when" will it die not "if".
My MBB and likely DC-DC just gave up the ghost before the holidays and I have to go about 3 hours to AL to get it fixed. I checked all the fuses and the 4 amp ceramic one for the DC-DC was blown but a new one didn't bring it back to life.
The dealer felt if the DC-DC blows, that's what takes out the MBB as well. He said probalbly will take a month to get a MBB and then run the diagnostics again to see if it needs a new DC-DC in which case I'd have to wait a few more weeks. That's why I just picked up another Sevcon to use if it needs it.
I was wondering if anyone had used that DMC unit and if it did in fact last longer than the Sevcon. Max mentions you need to cut the mounting bracket to widen it for the DMC unit and this AL dealer didn't sound too thrilled with working with Zero as it is, so another Sevcon unit it is.
Also I didn't know if there was a US dealer for DMC like maybe Elcon or someone that escaped the quick google search that I did. That UK site looks like a path to get one and Max links the DMC site itself on the Youtube description "more" section but ideally not going through international shipping and payment was what I was looking for.
Thanks for the other links though, might help some of the Euro folks anyway.
I hope 2025 is better for the electric motorcycle market as these dealers are about fed up and are dropping like flys.
