I just checked the  AQI in Beijing, China.

Only 25!

Silicon Valley has been hovering around 150-200 for days, and finally today dropped below 100. I went for a run this evening in case it goes back up tomorrow.

Right now the Mammoth area is 600-700 thanks to the Creek Fire. I'd planned a camping trip near there this weekend, but that's not happening. Also, all of the national forests in California are closed.

The northern California coast is clear right now.

I sure picked a bad time for my backpacking trip. Two years in a row. Last year, I was buying my Energica in late August and fires with a lot of smoke came later. Next year, I think I will go in July!

Today's wind really cleared out the smoke from here in Reno. I wonder who got hit with it.

AQI in Reno is 41 right now. Sure a lot better than yesterday's 260.

I now see the casinos below me all lit up and as clear as ever.

I heard that the smoke blew east, over the East Coast and then on to Europe.  Meanwhile, the BBC reports that Serbia is on fire and its permafrost is melting, releasing huge amounts of CO2. The world seems to be going to Hell in a hand-basket this year.

The AQI is down to 35 today here in Reno,  so we can start breathing again!
