Energica / So whats the story
« on: May 26, 2026, 08:04:40 PM »
So whats going on with Energica?
any real news and not just the fluff pieces and bullshit they been puffing out here and there.
its like watching a re run of lightning tactics with the lies and ommissions.

for example.   have they officially made ANY official statement that their CEO quit back in February?  if not (hint, pretty sure they didnt)
why are you hiding that kind of info?  if you are trying to secure funding etc wouldn't the prospective marks need to know that kind of info, hell wouldn't anyone need to know that kind of indo?   isn't there a law that says stuff like that needs to be divulged?

we keep hearing,  oh soon,  ooh any day now, and nothing more except fluff pieces that don't have much of any real content to them.

who ARE the real investors?  why are you hiding their id's,  rumor has it they are indian, and are running thru singapore for 'tarriff issues' and other 'issues' with that whole .... 'optics'.     wouldn't that be kind of illegal or shady at best if it is true?

where is your income coming from to keep running?  or even start back up.  again, the rumor mill and what was dug up thru document searches shows that it appears most the money to buy the company was crowdfunded, ok fine you own the company now... now how you going to keep it running w/o any kind of income.  you already fired anyone who was ANYone in the company.  well we have our own people, we don't need their senior engineers and programmers etc.  stuff like that shows a huge incompetence.  stuff like that kills a company.   or are you just another venture capitalist scumbag like the ideanomics clowns were, really don't give a fuck about energica, and just want to suck it dry, or actually purposely destroy it, so you can use the writeoff to hide revenues or launder?

what is being seen so far does not show a company trying to return, it shows more crooked business dealings or at least huge incompetencies in the leadership, which will also kill the company.

who knows, when it goes tits up again come sept / october maybe the next buyers can get it for 100k and then do something with what little might be left.  by that time itll be about worthless because with new companies coming along like lightfighter etc, and constantly progressing technology, your one trick pony will soon be obsolete, and without any new r and d or even any production.  nobody will be interested anymore because you will at that point be so far behind the times, you'll never be able to recover.

how many people from the original team still are on with the company?   why DID the ceo quit / get fired?  id love to hear that one.

General Discussion / Tesla Cyber Truck and Electric Bikes
« on: March 28, 2026, 03:16:19 AM »
Does anyone else own a Tesla Cyber Truck, and us it at all to charge their electric bikes with?

ive used mine to charge my Energica and it works pretty well.  I can even use it to push my CCS fast charge with 9.6 kw into it although with a standard  L2 charger you could get the same power into it at 40A which is what the 240 is rated at.

just curious on one thing, this beast will charge at 250 kw or so when you have a charger that can really let loose on it.  Has anyone experienced the cable getting so hot you'll burn yourself touching it.  I don't think that's supposed to be that hot, so asking here to see if anyone else has any experience with them or charging their electric bikes with their tesla.  It actually works out nice at the track because i can fash-ish charge with the truck, then slow charge the truck back up with the 120 vac and not have to pay extra for the 50A service.  Cansleep in the back too and save the 80 a night for a hotel, so it's working out good..  too bad there isn't a way to backfeed the bike to run stuff off of.

Aaron

ps.  actually, the Rivian, that has power on board too doesn't it, and the Ford Lightning.  Any of those owners used them for their bikes.  be curious to see.

thanks.

Energica / New Key
« on: February 05, 2026, 07:23:43 AM »
So i busted the tip off the key to my bike the other day, stupid thing i did.
besides the energica dealer which is an extinct species currently, where else can we get keys made at that work?

they look sort of like some Ducatti Keys, and also, am told that for the corsa bikes, you can get away with a dumb key, it don't need the chip in it.

in THAT case, can't you really then, just put a simple toggle somewhere to twist two wires together like you turned the key?

with the smart key, is there a way to bypass that, ie the computer sees it and sends a logic 'high' on pin 12 or some goofy shit, and you can just float a volt somewhere to simulate the it's ok signal, or will it just not function period w/o the magic key in place?

since the key for corsa does not need brains, this tells me, it IS a software issue, how hard to bypass that and put a normal type key on it for the road bikes?

im good with putting the proper key on it, but what if they become no longer available, are we eventually borked or what can we do?

Energica / Cold Weather Energica
« on: January 16, 2026, 06:15:08 PM »
So it's 18 F degrees out.  Ride anyone, yah, no thanks.
but on that.
lets say i was at the track, the bike sat out overnight, so basically my pack was around 20 degrees F, well below freezing.

what would the bike do, for those who are in cold climates normally.  would it even start, would it sit in limp mode until it warmed up / what.
Curious now as i do plan on riding some colder days.  perhaps i should keep it trailered on cold ass nights instead of sitting on the paddock under a canopy.

Energica / Battery Pack
« on: December 19, 2025, 06:13:31 AM »
So i just got the battery pack out of a Ribelle that was totaled,  didn't tell me what all happened, just gave me the battery and motor / gearbox for 400 dollars.

what i would like to do is, i have a friend who lets me use his equipment when i do hard core battery work, ie the spot welders or hv gloves and stuff you need to work on this kind of stuff.

i want to rebuild this with a different type of cell in it, there are newer cells out there with better C rates etc etc.
ultimately id love to bump the voltage up about 40 volts ish or so, bit more voltage, open the amps up a bit and might get some extra hp out of it when you really need it on the top end.... anyways.

now obviously the existing software is not going to like that at all, so i guess this question is more for Demoni.

how hard would it be to reprogram with the higher voltages of a different pack?  is this something that a tech could do, maybe with a little bit of engineer help or is it a major evolution,  in other words,  is this pretty much changing a few variables here and there like Cellmax = 364 or something like that or would it be a major evolution and rewrite and not really something that one can do?

would be nice to see energica back and in a few years, maybe developing better products, and id not mind at all contributing to that effort or being the guinea pig to test it :D

right now don't have absolute specifics as to what i will do, but more in the, is this doable, phase.

thank you

Energica / headlights and driver
« on: December 14, 2025, 02:15:09 PM »
burned out the driver im thinking on my ribelle,  is this an energica specific part for the lamps and driver or is this something that is  a common part and i may find elsewhere
or
does energica have one stashed away somewhere they'd be willing to sell?

Aaron

was doing a long balance on my bike and probably should have turned the headlights off during the process.  derp.

Energica / Well that was interesting
« on: December 02, 2025, 08:52:48 AM »
So i took the experia out on the track today, did nothing to it except tape up the shit they told me to.
went out full street setup like you'd get from the dealer.

hmm don't like those pirelli's at all on the track,  the suspension needs major tweaking for that hard of riding, she really wants to dive, and between that and the tires they don't like rapid slowdowns and want to get real squirrely.  i pushed it to the limit anyways, a few minor slides but that's one of the nice things about an electric, you can hear your traction and kind of know when it's about to give and back off a bit before you turn into the newest lawn ornament.

another thing, a 20 mph wind hitting you cross ways at 105 mph with those big boxes on, yah that'll fuckin move you...  maybe it'd not be so bad if there was some weight in them, but the bike is heavy enough, but still.

overall it was a lot of fun, absolutely different, but next time im putting better tires on and dialing up the shocks slowly until i find the best spot for what i got there.

another lesson but i already was very wary of this, those brakes are NOT my racing brakes!!  if you think you are going to come in hot and regen and then tap it down at the last second, yah umm no..

i really did like the feel of the bike, the wibbly wobbly was weird but could be useful sort of once i get the shocks tamed a bit and the tires not wanting to do the wiggle wind every time i brake hard.,  ill be out there again.  maybe w/o boxes, don't want to start grinding stuff.

Energica / Charging Problems
« on: November 04, 2025, 02:25:23 AM »
So, I was at the track and my bike was being a total bitch, not wanting to charge.
It'd time out, it's sit there in 'initiating'.  sometimes it'd lock up and id have to fiddle fuck with the key for a few mintues for something to finally time out and let the bike shut off and reset, etc etc.

Tried my normal tricks of hefting the cable over my shoulder to drop straight in so it's not pulling against the side, nope,  the push wiggle up, nope.  Took a real good look and seen just a bit of dust in there, i dropped it earlier in the dirt, and thought i had blown it out good enough.  i didn't.

so, a good cleaning with some alcohol and a prox brush.  some of those prongs in there have center holes.  goto the toothbrush section of the store, and they sell between the teeth brushes, kind of like tapered pipe cleaners.  dip one of these in alcohol, and run it in and out the plug holes to get it all cleaned out, yep a little crud in there.  You can also use the thing, one of the bigger ones to do the roundy roundy on the outside of the prongs too where you can reach to get the crud out of there too.

Even for AC, the main charging voltage is 115 VAC to 240 ish VAC.  That'll push thru a bit of corrosion pretty easily.  The pilot signal and the comms signals now, those can drop to as little as 3 volts.  3 volts is flea power, pretty much ANY thing can stop that from flowing, and if the signal gets attenuated, or worse, corrupted, which can cause a software lockup, now you have to play games.

Ive seen numerous complaints of charging issues, and wanted to re iterate, yes even if it looks clean, just a little bit can kill you.  Silver can oxidie and corrode, some contact cleaner might help in that case.   if it's tin flashed, then CC will work well there too.   use a dip or q tip don't want to spray CC on the plastic, it might eat it.

Speaking of the plastic.  the plug heads, especially when it's cold out, the stuff gets stiff, and very.... frictiony, it don't want to slide very well, and even that last 32nd of an inch / sub mm of travel to fully flush seat that plug flush, if it's not all the way down, that check fails, you don't charge.

i have found that some plastic cleaner / lubricant, like Car Wax, ie Turtle Wax or similar, carefully applied, (don't want to get it into the contacts we just cleaned now do we? ) can help make the plastic a bit smoother more slippery to help it slide in and out a bit easier.

Once i got the stuff cleaned the rest of the weekend went pretty flawless.

I wonder how hard it would be for Energica, or anyone really to make some sort of monitor that checks the comms / resistance across the connection, so you can get like an indicator on the dash, plug not inserted fully, or something to let you know it's an issue before things time out.  or better yet run the shit at a higher voltage, or make CCS 2.0 for the entire industry, that has a wireless there like the gas pumps have,  there is a bluetooth like thingie in the head and it comms wirelessly so you don't need to worry about low voltage issues.  I know this is not just an Energica issue and it's not going to go away on it's own.

Energica / What Parts Do You Need / How to Contact Energica for parts
« on: October 20, 2025, 02:52:51 AM »
 Hey Everyone:

Energica just sent out an e mail to everyone, asking what parts you need for your bikes to keep them going.  They are looking at what's needed most and working from that list as they ramp operations back up and want to get tbe broke bikes back on the road asap.

With that, i was going to post the link here but it seems they are customized to the people who signed up for the newsletter and that might cause grief if i posted that long link.

until i get a clean link hopefully, how about,
if you did not receive anything from them in the e mail, please post here what parts you need and ill see what we can do to get ta good link for you to follow and hopefully a way for you two to contact each other

Energica / The EGO has landed.
« on: October 17, 2025, 06:13:36 AM »
Well I finally got my bike back from the shop today.  Man she's a beauty.  the pictures really do not do it justice.
im almost afraid to ride it now, i don't want to ding it up, which i know is gonna happen on the track, it's all part of the world :)

put some after market lights and a horn on it to make her street legal and not having to hassle with hand signals.  Tomorrow probably be another day of my life wasted at the DMV getting tags for it.  i'll do the insurance too.  THAT is going to be a bastard i have a sickening feeling.

given they totaled my last bike, and the reason why, i can't honestly seeing them renewing my policy, so i am going to go try another company and see if i can get insurance there.  it's always easier, and looks better on me if I made the decision to swap carriers  .vs. getting a were not renewing you letter, then trying to find insurance.

After playing with the Ribelle and the Experia, i now know that YES i can make it back and forth to the track on one good full charge if i behave myself on the highway.  might be an option for quick days on the track, or the midweek meetups and private events we have, to ride the bike up, charge, ride back home at end of day  .vs. having to load all the shit up and run the truck / trailer etc up.  or for weekends run it all up so i can set it all up, and then just run the bike back and forth when i go home every skip day to feed the buzzard.  4 dollars for electric. actually free, my solar panels long paid themselves off...  .vs. 40 dollars for gas, is a nice option.

only thing i don't have is all the stickers i had on her, ill have to work on getting some of them back now. hmm.

Energica / Experia for a ride
« on: October 13, 2025, 08:01:13 AM »
So I took the Experia for a ride today.  Ended up doing 241 miles overall,  mixed speeds, id say 60 was max, maybe touch 65 here and there, all the way down to 25 and 30 in some smaller towns,  mostly 50 - 55 mph.  Ended up getting 171 miles on her before I chickened out and said, that's it, i need to charge, and put her on the charger at 8 percent.

Nice fun ride, charger started at 76 amps and worked itself down to about 60 amps after ehh 15 minutes,  then after say 20 minutes, turned the battery yellow, and came down to 45 to 50 amp charging, which still was not too bad really.  Kind of surprised me as the Ribelle, even before i tweaked the software, it'd take a lot of warm yellow to start pulling down on the charge rate.

Another surprise was at about 16 percent regen all but went away until you came down to about 30 ish mph. then it'd kick in, but this oddity was noted on my way home where i already charged up, was running yellow from the charge then running like hell to get home on a near empty road on a sunday afternoon at 5 pm.  so am thinking heat might have had something to play with the regen as i was wot for a while.  Still seems odd that it'd kill regen when super low percent, as you'd think it'd want every watt it could scape up.  Even on slower backroads it'd severely curtail regen at low battery levels  Maybe i didn't notice it, but it'd be nice if they gave some sort of indication it was curtailed... was... surprising to lean into a curve, letting off the throttle, expecting to be pulled into the turn... and nothing.

Other than that, the bike handled really well, my ass got sore after a while, but that's just me im thinking, not a problem with the seat as it's pretty comfy actually.  There were a few quirks but that's entirely my issue, as the bike has a few loose wires after the accident that i have not had  the time... (drive/desire) to tear down the fairings to get to and fix.  Occasionally ill blip the position light fault, which is the front light, and that'll tag team the brake light error, however from observation, the brakes worked just fine light wise.

One other.... observation.  of course some of the Hardley Tards bitched and moaned about electric, acting like a 30 minute to recharge is the end of the world.  Well during the trip. we stopped 3 times... for them..... 2 of the stops had chargers at them.

I did not charge then as I didn't want to slow the group down and had my plan for a later charge anyways with an escape plan if needed.  First time was 18 minutes,  Second time was 23 minutes, and 3rd time was 14 minutes.  Let's just say IF i charged, it would not have slowed the group done one friggin second.  It'd been no different than them gassing, pissing, and moaning, only i sip electric .vs. petrol.

Then there is, well 174 miles is shitty range... Really?? at highway / near highway speeds?  How many miles do you get per tank of gas? ??  Then WHY did we have to stop 3 times then, TWICE was because of YOU !!  So these complaints of, well it takes too long to charge, are really bullshit, when you look at it from an overall standpoint.  Maybe if you were 25 years old, wanted to get from A to B fast, and could do back to back to back without stretching it'd slow you down, but any other normal situation, group situation .or well.. ill take a shot and say, those of us over 40... having that little 25 minute stretch every 100 miles is nice.  or even a 15 minute stretches every 50 miles, which is about an hours of riding.  is a game changer.

15 minutes of charge mid capacity point, will get you about 30 percent battery regain.  so 2 or 3, maybe even 4, let's go 4, now you been riding 5 to 6 hours, it's time for lunch / dinner. which will take an hour.. the battery is pretty much topped off after that hour's charging or probably 85 percent, which is what we normally run on a trip anyways.

my point being, that argument is pretty weak,  YES you can only spend 10 minutes, pull in, get out, gas up, get on, go off. But how many do only that, and don't go in for a coke, a leak, take a smoke etc?  It's not really being truthful to just look at 'gas' time .vs. entire trip time... while you are in getting your coke, and all that shit, the bike is charging, you can't do that with a  gas bike, you won't turn the pump on for a bike and walk off.  If you wanted to be equally as deceptive you could say it saves time, as you CAN walk off while refueling .vs. not able with gas.

Anyways, just wanted to share that it was a pretty fun ride, comfortable, the bike handled very well, and this whole charging / range issue / it takes too long.... not totally true.  Be truthful, an electric vehicle is not taking that much longer if you plan your trip out, charge when you are already stopped for lunch or whatever.  Also, impressed with the range,  im estimating that if i kept a solid 60 mph id say that 25 percent gave me 35 miles or more of travel so you could probably pull 130 - 140  miles out of a full charge without wringing out the battery.  Again, that's 2 straight hours of riding.. yah... ill take the breaks. (and the sip up stops)  thank you.

General Discussion / Electric Ford goes out of control
« on: August 15, 2025, 07:11:52 AM »
This is just crazy, something seems to be missing to this story. Supposedly a Ford went out of control, the steering locked and it was at full throttle and wouldn't shut off.
https://x.com/HustleBitch_/status/1955999995850522919

Could this be a much better AI fake?  the guy filming it jumps into the other lane at the end far too quickly imo, id be very worried about other traffic in that instance.  seemed to keep it in frame and was able to stop awful darn fast too.  The driver who impacted didn't see the filmer going way slow and saying WTF and increasing their attention to situation?  Something don't seem right, but either way.

just what we need, more reason for people to hate on bikes / cars / anything electric if it is true.

for those who drive electric 4 wheelers, i know some don't have keys, but isn't there some sort of kill switch on them like with bikes?  If not and if this is true, then maybe there needs to be.
