I'm sorry to ask (since I don't have a bunch of time to look/think about this in greater detail), but my first question that doesn't seem clear to me: stated efficiency is significantly lost at highway speeds, but it wasn't clear, so, is the highway speed efficiency comparison same speedo speeds from 44t to 40t, or same gps speeds? (ie. are we talking 65mph by both speedo's, or 65mph by gps, and yes I understand 40t speedo=gps speed now, since same speedo speeds from 44t wouldn't be actually same speeds)
Also, realized when you mentioned odometer now reads accurately, it just occurred to me (sorry, maybe I'm slow here
) but this would have implications for warranty if odometer read 10% higher than actual (as in, you exceed your warranty miles sooner). Just stating as this seems sketchy, like if a manufacturer was allowed 10% higher speedo/odo, wouldn't it be in their best interest to always make sure it's at the max instead of accurate? Just asking to see if I'm wrong here.

I can confirm that taping a magnet works just fine, I've done for my SR/F for actual races (2 to be exact), and surprisingly, using electrical tape it never broke loose (I definitely had the same concern, as a mid-turn power down would be quite disconcerting).
I picked up some neodynium disc magnets from a local hardware store, I'm sure Amazon would have some, or you can use another supplier I've used https://www.kjmagnetics.com/ which has great products (may be overkill, I've used to mount control boxes to tower walls which I could not drill for obvious reasons).

FYI, the charger I linked has selectable current levels, you won't "blow" breakers unless you set it wrong (not difficult and defaults to last setting, so once you set it, you can forget it). Just saying you may want to consider having more capabililty for roughly the same price (but understand, you may never use extra capability so up to you).

I should also mention, this looks like it'll only support 3kW charging, just wanted to make you aware in case you think there is any chance you'd need to be able to charge up to 6kW, you'll need to consider another EVSE. I purchased this, and it's listed for $319 and you can ask for a custom plug length to suit your needs.

Additionally, you can get another plug adapter to allow you to charge at RV parks (I've had and done, but have sold my old EVSE in favor of a 6kW version with custom plug ends and have not needed my old setup so I sold it).

Seemed odd at first, but if you look further down you'll see this:
"If you want to use the usual household socket (NEMA 5-15), you must buy an adapter"
Sounds like you'll be fine, just get an adapter (I've used adapters for this exact reason with my Turbocord EVSE I used to have).
