Thanks again to everyone who participated and/or spread the word, I really appreciate it!
Feel free to reach out with any feedback that can make this a better event in the future.
I'll be out of town for December's second saturday, but feel free to meet and ride in my absence if anyone want to take up the mantle. Otherwise I'll be back in the new year and we'll do it again in 2021.

Thanks for the enthusiasm everyone!

MVetter, thanks for helping to connect me to this community, and putting the out word on this event.

BrianTRice, I hope this ride helps balance out whatever had you fed up with this forum. I really appreciate your planning to be ready to help out others in case anything goes wrong. I intend to set the tone for a calm, well-mannered ride; and I'm happy to take any suggestions or feedback.

Here's hoping that everyone has a fun, chill time!

Greetings Bay-Area electric motorcycle riders! It's time for the second Second Saturday San Francisco Circuit, an electric motorcycle group ride.

We'll meet by the charge point in the big parking lot south of China Basin park next to Pier 50 in San Francisco. Meetup at 10:30 am, kickstands up at 10:50.

The route is a big lap around the city inspired by the "butterlap" beloved by SF cyclists. We'll loop around the city going up along the embarcadero, along the marina green into the presidio, then we'll stop at the Battery East Vista (perfect, right?) to decide if we want to tack on a trip across the Golden Gate to headlands twisties and out to point bonita (depending on fog and group feeling about the toll), then head back through land's end, down the coast by the beach, and back across the city through the park. Check out the route here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=16AvFhqjpI3qORFdnz9N_Ue5pBRalVpaV&usp=sharing

We'll shoot to continue this on subsequent second Saturdays of the month moving forward--in case you are interested, but can't make it to this one.

Update: map looks better, not perfect, but almost right

Can't blame you Crissa, riding up the day before for a casual lap around the city doesn't seem worth it to me either. But, rest assured, I will enforce sensible social distancing, and ensure people are wearing masks if they don't have their helmet on in the lil hangout before the ride.

I'm riding a Zero FXS, DonTom, so long trips with lot's of highway speeds and mid-trip charging aren't really in my wheelhouse. That Forest Hill-Colfax-Grass Valley ride looks fun and pretty, but alas too far for me.

Thanks for the suggestion, BigPoppa, I'll look into what our mid-route charging options are and make adjustments for subsequent rides.

Electric Motorcycle Events / SF Electric City Circuit [Group Ride]

Greetings Bay-Area electric motorcycle riders! I am trying to put together an electric bike meet-up and group ride around SF. I'm shooting for this Saturday, Oct 10th, as a first ride. And, if there is interest, the second Saturday of every month moving forwards. Midmorning meet-up, midday ride: maybe 10:30 meet, 10:45 ksu.

For a route, I was thinking of something like the "butterlap" that SF cyclists love: a loop around the city going up along the embarcadero, along the marina green into the presidio, then we can tack on a trip across the golden gate and out to point bonita (depending on fog and group feeling about the toll), back through land's end, down the coast by the beach, and back across the city through the park.

Lemme know if you're interested. I'd love any suggestions for a good parking lot to meet at, and any route alterations or suggestions. I will update this post with hard details and a route map in the next 24 hours.

UPDATE: Here's a route map https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=16AvFhqjpI3qORFdnz9N_Ue5pBRalVpaV&usp=sharing

We'll meet at 10:30am in the big parking lot south of China Basin Park wherever there is room. Kickstands up at 10:45.
