General Discussion / Does Verge Motorcycles deserve a spot here yet?
« on: March 16, 2026, 09:40:47 PM »
I’ve been following Verge Motorcycles fairly closely this past year and at this point, I just have to ask - do we think there can be a dedicated space created for them on the forum to share news and opinions?  They’ve delivered to customers in Europe and with their solid state deliveries looking very promising to deliver by this year in the US that means I’ll be replacing my Experia with one of them.  Hoping to be able to share experiences with new and existing owners here.

Linked charging test of their new pack this morning:

IMO kinda silly to still be saying this on your only public facing website right now though:

“after sales support is back up, please reach out to your dealers. more updates in Oct 2025.”

Is it really up?  All I’ve experienced so far is chatting with dealers who used to carry Energica telling me they don’t plan to carry them again.  Furthermore, it’s two months past October…at least give me a new timeline if you’re trying to give timelines.

No worries about that, I could have been more specific in my response too since it was also out of line.

For MVetter, the frequency of such an event does not temper my personal disappointment unfortunately, but I still do love the rest of the bike.  I’ll probably upgrade to the Ohlins suspension by the next maintenance cycle anyways though.

As I said, I think it’s disappointing the factory seals have failed as my riding generally shows double the life/time as compared to what I got.

I check my fluids more regularly but this is clearly not only a fluid replacement I need to do.

The right fork is leaking - nothing super severe but after I was halfway done with my recent trip (5500 miles from Wisconsin to Washington State and back) I noticed the bike pulling to the right, and it’s gotten more severe as the leak continued across the trip.  I’m a little disappointed that the factory seals on the fork seemed to have failed in 2 years and 8500 miles, but it’s not that big of a deal - I will put plenty more miles on this bike in short order so a rebuild probably isn’t the worst thing to do right now.

Is there anything specific I should worry about when using a scissor lift?  I might still get the Pitbull front stand (thank you for the pin spec!!!) but I already have the lift, it just seems like it won’t pick it up as well as front stand could.

Energica / Rebuilding Ribelle front forks
« on: August 13, 2025, 11:06:41 PM »
Hey all, the time has come for me to do some fork maintenance on my new-ish Ribelle.  I have previously been using a scissor lift and rear stand or most of the time a center stand (like on my DSR/X or Yamaha Tracer) but with the Ribelle comes potential for needing a new solution.  I’m not sure I want to use the scissor lift under the bottom of the bike, but I’m having some difficulty determining a front stand that works well.  Has anyone used a front stand for their Energica Ribelle before to do fork maintenance?  Looking at the Pitbull options (been using a Pitbull rear stand and it’s been great) it seems like there is a custom pin fit required for the front, so I feel like that’s out unless anyone has the trial and error already determined.  If anyone can speak from the experience of using a scissor lift with much success, I suppose I can attempt that way instead as well, I’m just loathe to give it a shot without knowing what Energica might recommend here.

Yes, I’m well aware of the limitations of higher voltage systems.  I happen to have the opinion that 800v systems offer more pros for what I’m looking for vs the cons.

Personally I’m of the opinion that cheaper manufacturing based on location and manufacturing motorcycles that target lower price brackets of the market can be mutually exclusive.  I see a pretty potential here for them to lean into the large Chinese market and start delivering lower power and range models to the largest EV market in the world.  Unfortunately this route leads to the least optimal outcome for me, I really would like a new model that can rival the current motoE tech Ducati has shown off for lower weight and better handling characteristics, not to mention higher voltages for more efficient charging.

All of that being said, I’d love a small and light bike that can replace my FX that comes with 6kW DCFC built in.

Got it, thanks for the tip.  I’m quickly becoming familiar with the right handlebar support trick for all these high power stations.

Just curious if you have ever seen a C1003 error when you fail to plug in the cable properly?  I just picked up a Ribelle and on a station with super duper heavy cables had errors attempting to plug it in at several stalls, not sure if it mattered but I reset the bike by keying on and off alongside triggering the “go” mode via kill switch 4 times for good measure.  After all that and being very VERY careful, I was able to get it to engage.  Just hoping to determine if I’m gonna have that 1 in a million issue too or if I’m just seeing the odd error and it’s easily corrected.

The other part you’re missing with it is that these motorcycles are priced outrageously at MSRP and often don’t sell for that.  $6k might seem kinda low for that bike, but consider that many of those bikes were sold with big incentives, special financing, etc.

A couple years ago, I remember seeing blowout prices for brand new 2020 DSRs in 2021 for about $10k.  Considering the age of the bike and the weak market, getting $6k for a 5 year old, out of warranty Zero Motorcycle is actually not terrible depreciation considering that imo.  The bad part comes if you were impatient or didn’t care to do additional investigation to find one on sale and paid the MSRP.  I’ve bought and sold several of these, definitely not making any money, but I’ve bought new and used, resold both, and never lost more than 15% on any individual bike.  My used Ninja 400 had sharper depreciation than my used Zero DS did.

Most unfortunate for the employees who got used to that perk then :(

I love having cheap charging at work.  I try not to abuse it but it is less expensive than pretty much any other option I have right now, including my home charging which is $0.14/kWh.  I wouldn’t be able to commute on my motorcycle to work without it either -  no way I’m stopping for a 1 hr charging break on a commute.

You can sell the DSR, just don’t expect anything over $8000 without waiting for months on end.  Personally, I wouldn’t buy a gen II bike like that for anything over about $6k.

Sounds like the business is just trying to keep anyone traveling through from picking that location then.  Well within reason for a private business who’d rather have the charger available for employees and not the general public.  My company did something similar when there were still level 2 in the general parking lot next to the facility - employees had a supplemented cost of $0.08/kWh and everyone else was $0.30/kWh.  They did move all the chargers underground when our new badge access parking ramp opened a couple years ago.
