Buy Sell Trade / Zero X wanted
« on: February 18, 2013, 11:49:16 AM »
Looking for a factory street legal Zero X.  (2010, 2011).  Would consider 2008 or 2009 model--but in Iowa where I live, I would not be able to make them street legal (I checked.)   I do know about the 2012 $2500 ICE motorcycle rebate/trade in too--which I am considering as well.  Thanks.

I have 2 Lectra motorcycles--made in 1998.  Just got new Optima batteries for them.
The guy who started the company still maintains the website.  They only made about a 100 of them.  just google "Lectra motorcycle."

I put a deposit down March 10, 2009--and was told I was upper 60's /lower 70's in-line--AND, that I'd likely get my bike in the first or second week of June.  So far, I've heard NOTHING from Zero!  Pretty sad.  I guess I expect better communication and maybe send me a brochure (or or email or something.)  The Brammo goes on sale July 7. (Perhaps Zero just wants us to keep waiting longer? )  One wonders who can actually deliver product.  Maybe I'll get a T-shirt too--except they don't know my size.
Perhaps I'll wait for the PMW Shocker, or the special edition Electric Motorsports.
Why doesn't Zero just 'street' am X (lights, horn, speedo), and then we could get the tax credit and they could sell and ship bikes?

Thanks.  I will likely call you.  What is the cost of that?   (I'd need to add horn and mirrors too.)  Also, does anything thinl this light kit will make an X elible for the tax credit that the S is ok'd for?

I did see they had a converter on the web site.   I did think about a bike Speedo too--lots of options there.  it is surprising I don't many after market kits options.  I figured there would at least be a page or two of things in JC Whitmey or Dennis Kirk catalogs.  Since the converter Zero sells is over $200--and kits look to be about $200-350,  it does make the cost closer to a Zero S (Esp. when one factors in the tax credt at the end of the year--that the X doesn't qualify for.   Wish we knew about the oher models they might come out with this year--if any.

I'm more about fun and innovation.   (I have a Pinzgauer-but I never take it off-roading.)   I am surprised to see how much a lighting kit costs tho.'   Didn't the dealer from CO say lighting kits were coming for the X?  I'd like to see what the
X looks like with a factory designed lighting kit.  (It would be nice to have a speedometer too.)

thanks for all the replies. I am in line for an S--but don't have a number.  I was told I'm about 65-70 inline.   Still, would be nice to see what might be coming soon--don't want buyer's remorse this major purchase if the newer styles might be mroe to my liking.

« on: April 09, 2009, 04:45:09 AM »
Hello all,
I have a deposit on a Zero S--but now I think I like the X model better.  But, I am not a dirt bike rider--I want to use the Zero X on the street.  (I realize the govt. tax rebate doesn't apply to the X also.)
Who knows about making the X street legal?  Are they (Zero)really making a light kit for it?  (In my state it would need, headlight, taillight, brake light, horn, turn signals, and 2 mirrors.)  Does anyone know of others adding these to their X to make it street legal?   Are there other kits out there to make a dirt bike street legal?  Thanks for your input.
