Bike with 20.2 kW battery, it sure participate to the high price
Very nice bike / design (kudos to the orange + black version), but an IOT bike is not for me, connected 24/7 on internet with no control is scary (unless you can take off the SIM card)
Can the IA have some physical control over the bike ? (seems not, but not 100% sure)
There is some camera and sensor to warn about surrounding dangers, not sure very usefull for a bike....the time you watch the screen (instead of the road) and being aware of the warning and reaction time about this warning.... not sure a useful option for a bike (makes more sense for a car)

A "dumber" version of the bike would cost less, and would be less dystopian, so more attractive for me, too bad because very nice bike !

AH ! AH ! AH ! Nice video ! It did bring back some memories of mine !

I guess every biker has to experience it at least once ... to really understand you don't want a second time  ;D

2. The clock on my bike shows the right time about half the time.

I have a Zero S (2019) and the clock freezes, mostly during charging, the only time the clock is correct is when I have the courage to set it right, knowing it will go nuts, during one of the next charge...

An other very odd thing on the bike : the battery level indicator never shows 21%, 41%, 61%, or 81%
Do any of you have already noticed this ? Is this the same on SR/F ?

Sorry but waiting winter is a very bad Idea, I did my paints in the summer because the paint has to be applied in a range of temperatures.
For exemple, the one I used, must not be applied under 15°C

I didn't do it in one week but many weeks one or two part at a time

in this one I just did the bottom side, and what you don't see is : the other side is not painted ;)

Then some weeks later, the top grey area freshly painted : same here, the other side not done

The look was not perfect for some weeks, but hey ! the satisfaction of doing it yourself and the final result : completly worth it !

Well, I didn't know anything about painting a bike before, so I watched a lots of youtube video about that.
I you want to do this, here are some advices :
- I highly recommend you to take the time to prepare what you need and where you will do it before starting
- If the part you want to paint is varnished, use sand paper to remove it
  - if it's a metallic part, use also sand paper to remove the paint
  - if it's a plastic part, be carful and gentle, not to scratch the plastic
- Some plastic part do not requiert sand paper, just clean with a sponge, water and soap, then dry before applying new paint.
- DO NOT use Acetone / Propanone to clean plastic parts unless you want some melt marks on it ;)
- If you can't remove the part you want to paint, protect it with cardboard, newspaper : and be sure they don't fall while you paint !
- Start the paint in a well ventilated place, the vapors of the paint are not healthy to breathe (careful of flies, dirt, and leaves if you do it outdoor)
- Watch videos on youtube about it, there is plenty of advice about all you need to know to be prepared

Last but not least : If you completly failed a paint, remember you have sand paper and paint to try again later :)

for the stickers, well..those are stickers, anyone can put stickers ! (hair dryer can help modify the shape of the sticker, but not to much else it will shrink and break)

@curt and @princec: You are the only ones here talking about free magical energy coming from nowhere

mistasam explained very nicely the usage of the kinetic movement to create electricity with the gravity + slope + wheel + turbine motor

Just like wind turbines produce electricity with wind + blade + electric turbine (not magically coming from nowhere)

, not reused.
You are aware that you just contradict youself here ?
How can you transform energy if it can't be reused ? (But maybe you were talking about 'electricity' not 'energy')

Energy is converted between forms
That's exactly right !
electricty from battery => transformed to mecanical movement of the turbine
mecanical movement of the turbine => transformed to rotating the wheel
rotating the wheel  => transformed to movement going uphill
Thats the first chain of conversion where the whole entity 'bike' looses energy (but it also gained some gravitational potential energy due to earth gravity and bike mass)

The second chain of conversion is as follow :

movement going downhill => transformed to rotation of the wheel
rotation of the wheel => transformed to mecanical movement of the turbine
mecanical movement of the turbine => transformed to electricity 'stored' to the battery (it's not precise 'cause you can't really store electricity, but that how general public understand it)

In those 2 chains of conversion, energy is lost for the whole 'bike' entity in heat, light, various resistances and other mechanisms, that's why downhill you only get back a fraction of the energy

If you don't understand all that, just go learn how electricity is produced, because you are the ones with a lack of knowledge on the matter
Or maybe you just want to play picky on words
Or maybe you just want to troll, which in that case, I would say : don't feed the troll

My 20 cents on the subject (which didn't cost 1$ initially ;))

As usual, I enjoy your vidz !

Two thing catch my attention in this video :
- The first one are the the nice orangy touches in your new suit !
- The second is that in 4 years you only have ~20700 km
Mine has not yet 1 year and already14200 km, I guess I should make a video in 3 years to show how well/bad the battery gets with a more intensive usage of the bike ;)

Aaaaaaah, this topic makes me want to go back to an old project I had :
Developping a software to have some stupid sounds reactive to the speed and throttle movements (for a linux phone or an embedded raspberry pi connected to speakers)
The crazy frog or the TIE fighter sounds would be perfect :D

At the time I reached out to Zero to ask them informations about the bluetooth protocol ... but apparently it's a "secret of production which result of an incomparable driving pleasure"   :o

I'm not enough motivated to retro-engineer the bluetooth protocol which should not be that hard (but still annoying thing to waste time on)
If someone already did that, I'm interested !

Actually, one guy used thez TIE fighter sounds for his e-car xD :

Hello Everyone !

I saw very nice things here ! (but not a lot) So I wanted to share my pics with you !

I bought a Zero S in 2019 and I was very disappointed by the full black color of the bike... and no other color proposed...

So I decided to do something about it, and it cost me approximately 130 € (paint + varnish + sandpaper + 3M stickers)

The day I bought it

Now, it looks more like this

Don't hesitate to put the pics of your modified ebike in this thread !

PS : I think it would be very nice to have a fixed post in the first page, so everyone could easily post or have a quick look on the users bikes !
