Has anyone spotted any in-depth, unvarnished reviews of the Evoke motorcycles, either in video or article?  All that I'm finding is industry announcements, company videos, and one fanboy video from Beijing.

They seem to be out on the market now.  Canada now has a distributor looking to release bikes in October, and I'm interested as a lower priced alternative to the Zeroes and better performance than the Super Socos.

All of the other bikes are well covered such as Zero, Harley, Super Soco, and so forth, but next to nothing for these guys.

I won't be so quick to write this off as an overpriced, dead-end toy.  I'll reserve judgement until we see testimonials and video.  By spacing the magnets, they are able to boost torque.  Larger surface area may help with heat dissipation.  It may be possible to lighten the design as it does not have the concentrated stresses found in a more typical smaller motor.  At the moment, that's a lot of unsprung weight, but could improve in future models.    Who can predict where this will lead?  I'm not an engineer, but like seeing such innovations.  Electric motorcycles have fewer constraints than ICE, so why must they look and perform like ICE bikes?

Why did they go with the fat Judge Dredd tire on the back?  Not sure that this concept needs to be that wide to generate 80kw.  Something to do with handling or protecting the rims from damage?

It seems that too many think that these bikes are too quiet, but the real issue is likely that the modern car is too well soundproofed.  With the radio going, even a firetruck with sirens blaring can sneak up on most car drivers.

I find concept models to be extremely frustrating.  How often do they actually lead to a worthwhile product for the teeming masses?  Right now, there are hundreds of EM concept models and I suspect that the vast majority of them won't lead to a marketable bike or part.  They are more like one of a kind art projects for bored designers.

Depends on market forces and visionaries.

Look at flat screen TV's.  It was invented in '64, but once the technology hit a certain capability and price point, in the space of 8 (?) years, we went from 0% to 100% flat screen sales.

I don't doubt that ICE and meat will be gone in 15 years.  It won't be due to high notions or government regs.  Quite simply, they will be priced out of the market.  Right now, EM's are more expensive but once the makers hit the necessary economies of scale, they will easily undercut gas bikes with fewer parts and easier assembly.  I'm reading of major battery breakthroughs that just need to come to market to put the final nail in the coffin.  Eventually, the econmies of scale will invert, at which point, you need to be rich to own a gas vehicle and have to carry a drum of fuel as the gas stations disappear. 

[Same with meat.  One day, veggie meat will taste and chew like the real thing but cost pennies because it's made with peas or beans.]

We live in interesting times.

Something better than the 3kW City Slicker, but not needing 0 to 60 mph in 4s of a 34kW Zero DS.  Priced at half of the price of a Zero DS.

Perhaps, 'mid-size' is a bad descriptor given the electric superbikes that make a Zero look like a kid's riding toy.

Still no sign of these coming to North America even though it's been talked about since 2017.  Price point of $7,900 USD doesn't seem compelling.  Another $3k will get you a Zero with twice the power and domestic support.  At the other end is the CSS City Slicker at $2,500 USD which is under-powered.  When are we going to see a good mid size contender with decent specs at a budget price point?
