It's not clear to me if there any mechanical changes on the SS9+, but apparently the bikes handle better since the center of gravity is lower and the bikes are 5% lighter.
Other changes for the SS9+ seem to be:
Updated electronics to support remote bike status monitoring
Optional keyless ignition
Increase in torque from 133 lb-ft to 148 lb-ft
