Mines become self-aware and refuses to take version 18 
It gets through all the pre-requisites and starts but then immediatly claims the transfers failed and tells me to turn the bike off. Still on 17.
It's been a while since it's been this difficult to get the firmware to take to the bike. It's usually a few attempts, now i'm up to about eight tries. Might just leave it and get the dealer to do it at some point.
In the modern age, it can't be this hard to tranfer a file from the internet to a device and reboot it.
And i can't check the logs, because now the app crahes when i click on that button. This used to work... sigh... so much for the latest app update fixing bugs.

I'm currently in the usual SR/F song and dance about getting it to take the new firmware, but there seems to be rumblings on Facebook about it causing issues with the app etc, so i'm in no hurry.
I was hoping by now they'd make this process more durable but alas, not yet. I still have to run my mobile in 24 hour clocks to get around a bug in the zero schedule charging screen, and that was there right at the begining of the Zero next gen application, still not fixed, reported twice. There is also some talk of the application been updated in the next few weeks to fix a handful of issues, so maybe we'll get lucky.
Maybe Zero should add the app code to GitHub so we can fix our own issues and send them pull requests. might speed up the development and bug fixing if they let the community take a look, but i guess that gives away too much commerical info, but a developer can dream right?

as per what remmie said, if you want to charge to 100% or need to balance cells etc, you'll need to disable the charge target. Then the bike will "target" as much charging as it can manage in the time you leave it plugged in for.

So i finally got this to take on the fourth attempt.
Mine, like steveh, had got itself into a state where it failed immediately even after been keyed off over night. So here’s what happened when I tried today.
I got the same message, lights off, display on but this time, I decided I was going to download the logs rather than key it off, so i could see if there was anything in there that might shed light on it. So with the bike still in firmware mode I started downloading the logs for the bike. Half way through there was a click and all the lights turned back on and the bike started responding as if it’d been switched on and off.
When I started the firmware download again (not restarting it, just kicked it off) it downloaded and installed perfectly. No error codes, no CEL (like the second time) just downloaded, installed and then rebooted onto version 17. Still clear of error codes and it works perfectly.
If it had just done that in the first place

I'm now getting the same as stevenh, I've got no errors and the bike works and all, but every time I leave it alone and try again, it immediately aborts with a “cannot update firmware”. The bike says it’s connected to cellular but gives me no indication of the strength of the signal, so I don’t know if it’s just a crappy download connection, or Zero have decided to pull the file during the current lockdown so as to stop people from doing this during a time they / dealers can’t fix things If they go wrong.

Whilst we are on this subject, i have a quick question regarding this line in the manual "During regular operation and when connected to a charging cable.".
Given I'm currently working from home for the foreseeable future and seeing as the zero's 12v is always maintaining the Cellular connection, if it ONLY charges the 12v riding around (not doing that for the foreseeable future), or when it's charging (again, sitting in garage at 80% is gonna take a while to drain to a point i need to charge it up), Does that mean that the 12v will slowly go flat?
If that's the case, is it worth plugging in the zero to "charge" even though it'll not need to and leave it plugged in over night so the BMS can charge the 12v every now and then without charging the main pack. This then seems to defeat the "hibernation" thing after a month of inactivity. I'm confused as to how to maintain it, during our currently lock down.
Anyone got any knowledge on the maintence of the 12v so it's not heading to the dealer the minute i need to use it again.

remmie's right on this, I know some steering locks need to be pushed down, but the SR/F isn't one of them.
Key in, turn handle bars to left, turn key anti-clockwise NOT pushing down, litle wiggle to line it all up until the key clicks round, key out.
Job done.

A new one! But this one is slightly different.
I still haven't got it to take, normally takes around five attempts, but the bikes behaving differently this time.
When i fire the firmware update, it does it's checks (through the app) and then starts downloading. The lights all go out (like last time) and it seems to drop into an "Update" mode. But this time there's no long list of errors codes, nothing turns off and on again, it doesn't randomly make clicking noises. It just sits and does it's thing for 30 minutes, when the progress bars on the app both reach full, it changes to "Waiting for motorcycle" but then the bike appears to timeout and and the whole thing shuts down. Originally i assumed it was going to reboot, but after five minutes the bike was still "off" even with the key in the on position, but with no lights, display of any controls working.
I power cycled it myself, still on Version 16, but the bike never recorded any error codes and the whole thing just sprung back to life as if nothing had happend. No codes to clear, no random messages on the display. Is this progress of sorts?
One final observation, i wonder if this process needs to be completed within a certain time frame for it to work? The firmware update seems to take a while over the cellular here (Kent, UK), but the bike shuts down after thirty minutes of being on regardless of it's progress. I wonder if that's why this process is always flaky. I wonder if the bike tries to "shut down" due to inactivity even though the process is still ongoing and that's what borks the update process.

There's also the outstanding issue that if you use 12 hour clocks on your phone in th UK the scheduled charging screen just bugs out entirerly. Changing the phone to use 24 hour clocks resolves the issues completely. That was fun figuring out.

Random thing happened today, when i turned the bike on, the green light flashed and then the four-way flashers (hazards) lights started to flash. Turned them off and all was well. No error codes and it's not trying to tell me anything that i can see.
Hopefully it was a blip, not a firmware bug, because that'd get old fast having to turn them off everytime i turn the bike on.

I've just been out to look at mine and the range says 86. Admittedly i haven't ridden it, so it may drop to zero and stay there when i next ride it, but so far, it seems to have kept the range intact.

I applied this tonight. The main Battery Board went without a hitch and updated to 16, the Motorcycle Main Board took a couple of attempts (through the app) and now it updated. Both are on version 16. Got a whole bunch of error codes as various systems turned off and on, cleared all these out and it seems fine.
Haven't noticed anything to write about, other than the green running light flashes quickly when the dash display first loads when i'm sure it didn't with 14. It works as expected and i don't see any difference in operation yet.
