Regarding the DSR/X looking or feeling cheap: I wonder if there is a difference between 2024 and 2023 models. I have a 2023 and it does not look or feel cheap--almost as solid as my 2017 BMW R1200GSA.

For my DSR/X, a very simple rule of thumb is to expect about 1 mile per 1 percent of charge.

Riding between 55 and 60 mph gets me about 90-100 miles with a full charge (charging to 110 percent). Going faster exponentially reduces mileage due to wind resistance.

In my experience, what matters more than temperature is wind--going into a headwind significantly reduces mileage, wind from the back can add 10 percent or more. Other factors related to wind resistance include size of the rider and the metal carrying cases in the back.

I had the same decision to make last year. I've been riding BMWs R1200GSs since the 1990s and like the similarities to the Zero, like upright seating position, maneuverability, stability, torque, 19-inch front tire, two-up comfort, wind protection (got the taller windshield), hand protectors, luggage, etc. I also like the wider drive belt. Had mine for a year, almost 5000 miles, no problems.

Since we're talking Gen 3 bikes, I would not say that the build quality of my DSR/X is substantially worse than my BMW R1200GSA. The Gen 2 bikes may be different.

Are they in the same building? A Google Map search does not show "Lightning" on the building anywhere.

It looks like water is mainly a problem for the generation 3 models and not for generation 2 (like your DS).

And SkyYeti's experience shows (2022 SR/F) that the problem still haunts even the latest generation after 2022 with the newest battery.

This is good news. I have not seen any reports about magic charging or water issues from 2022-23 SR/F
SR/S owners either.

Just trying to see if there are any out there who have had problems. This information (or the lack thereof) could be very helpful to Zero as well.

I'm considering a 2022-23 generation 3 bike.

There plenty of reports about 2020-2021 SR/F and SR/S magic charging and sensitivity to water. Has this been fixed in 2022-2023 models?

1. Magic charging: Has the new battery design of the 2022s taken care of this?

2. Water: Are some of the 2022-2023s still sensitive to wet weather and water?

3. Any news on how the DSR/Xs are doing?

The belt on the SRF I was riding broke 2 miles into a test ride. That was last fall, I was hoping they would have gotten better belts by now.

The worrying part was that he was on a flat and level road, not jumping curbs or hitting a pothole. Start carrying a spare belt? Maybe so.



The exact same thing happened to me on a test drive. The belt even broke in the same way.
