I get 50-60 miles on trails only depending on how rough the terrain is.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Chain Kit Slack
« on: December 28, 2019, 08:50:46 PM »
Awesome, thanks everyone.  I set it around 3/4" slack for now.  If I wasn't worried about snapping the belt in the middle of a forest, I would have probably stuck with the belt drive.  It is noticeably louder.  Not horrible but no more sneaking up on pedestrians.

Just installed the chain kit on my 2018 Zero FX.  How much slack should the chain have?  I only found one video that said "about 1 inch" but would like to know if Zero has a specification for this.  Thanks!

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Lowest Wattage Generator for Zero FX
« on: September 28, 2019, 01:32:55 AM »
Trying to find a small generator for when I go camping to charge my Zero FX.  What's the lowest wattage I could get away with?  I hooked it up to a KILL A WATT meter and am showing a 696 watt draw and 6.19 amp.  Would a 1000w running generator be sufficient (with 1250w peak?)

If you've gone so far as to get rim locks, then you probably also want the chain kit?

My thought is to see how much the belt will handle first.  I heard this generation of belt is much stronger than the last.  When I snap it I'll get the chain kit.  Hopefully I won't snap it 40 miles from nowhere...

If you punch it in sport mode from say.. 20mph on asphalt, does it spin or grip and go? I want to do this to mine as well! Where did you get the bark busters?

I'm curious about the belt, these have a wider and more stout belt than previous years.

Seems to grip well.  Riding on road feels a little more awkward than the stock tires do but not terrible.  I wouldn't be hitting twistys at full speed on them.  I got the bark busters on Amazon for cheap.  I've used these same ones on all my motorcycles and never had an issue with them.  https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0773DRLKT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I put some D606 tires on my FX.  So far tons of grip and rides well on the road.  Also installed rim locks and bark busters.  I will report back once I get her out on some proper trails.

Also a short video of my first ride on them:

Thanks all, will take the bulb out soon and see if it's just burnt.

*edit* the bulb filaments seemed fine but I just replaced it anyway, now the brake lights work!  Thanks all.

I noticed that Zero took their parts catalog offline.  Where can I purchase parts from now?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / 2018 Zero FX Brake Light Not Working

I bought a 2018 Zero FX yesterday and did not check the brake lights before I brought it 2 hours home.  I tried the foot brake and hand brake and neither operate the brake light.  The running light is on however.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

I saw a video on that Sur Ron how do you kike it?

Love my Sur-Ron.  It's a nice pit bike and goes just about anywhere.  A little small for my frame but I still enjoy the hell out of it.  The main problem I have with it, is that it is not street legal.

Hi, if you're still looking, I have a 2017 FXS ZF6.5 for sale.  6,000 miles.  Has wider than stock tires.  Rear fender has been shortened. Includes stock tires with 500 miles on them and external charger.

I'll text or email pics.

I'm in Daleville, AL. about 3 1/2 hours SW of Atlanta

$6,500

Thanks, but I am looking for an FX since I do offroad mainly.

Looking to buy a used Zero FX for between $5,000 - $7,000 near Atlanta, Georgia.  Willing to drive a few hours if necessary.  Prefer chain-drive but belt is fine.  I have a DR-Z 400 and am willing to do partial trade for it, otherwise I have cash.

Sent you a DM, let me know if it is still available.

*EDIT* how hard is it to convert this from an FXS to an FX?  Is it just a wheel swap or more to it than that?  Are there aftermarket wheels or do I have to spend $600 at the dealer on brand new FX wheels?
