I know the bulletin to Zero owners states the OTA update will be completed ~Oct 7th, but I had my first OTA update complete successfully to firmware version 10 yesterday. Glad to have this functioning as intended. Thank you Zero! No other complaints with my bike. 2,000 miles in 2 months and no issues other than the fixed OTA!

How do you know that is version 10 ?
Seems that the last version the published is 9 and no one knows how to see that...

Version 9 was short lived. I can see the version number of the BMS and MBB on their software when I connect to the bike.

Well, I updated to version 9 MBB and BMS today. Our diagnostic laptop with version 33.5 didn't want to connect to any bike (we did a customers SR/F firmware update today too) but the diagnostic desktop in the shop had Zero issues (bad pun, sorry).

Glad to have this resolved. Wondering why the laptop doesn't communicate though?
Quick question for you.  When connecting the SRF to computer, is it through the storage tank area?  I will be dropping my bike off for comissioning and updating and wanted to know if I need to empty my storage box.

Yes, through the OBDII port in the front tank storage area.

One step further is that even with the SR/F brake light on, it's only marginally brighter than the running light. Both should be addressed.

Hey, I took that picture. I sold that FXS. :)

Full lineup info for 2020 models after the 18th of this month. Just FX/FXS out until then.

I work for a Zero dealer and have the current Zero software on our diagnostic laptop. I was just hoping to hear if anyone else has experienced similar before hearing back from Zero customer/technical service. Waiting for a response from them, but I'm sure they won't disclose other customer experiences.

It isn't going through and showing failed, it's staying on the older version of firmware.

Anyone else with an SR/F having trouble doing firmware updates? OTA updates fail every time, trying to connect to the dealer software fails. We're up to date with the most recent version 33 of the Zero software. Anyone else experience anything similar?

It really only takes all of 30 seconds to swap over charge target as it currently stands. Could it be more convenient? Yes. Will they likely focus much effort in potential charge profiles? Probably not, but I'm not sure what Zero sees in the way of customer wants.

Two suggestions before you make the dreaded trek:

1. You mentioned there is a sticky substance on the belt. Belts can make some nasty noises when wet, e.g. in the rain. Use a towel, dish soap or laundry detergent or Simple Green and a brush to thoroughly clean and rinse it. No brake cleaner or anything else too harsh... hopefully it isn't some stubborn silicone stuff.

2. Get the $12 Gates 91107 belt tension gauge and measure tension for real. For my 8mm belt the tension gauge indicates 25KG, dead center range and I never have problems with it. The app says 54Hz when ostensibly it should be 96-125Hz.

Not sure if it's just our tension tester or what.. The click seems to come on from an early torque click or late and varies by almost double the weight. I personally like using the phone application because it has been consistent. Does your Carbon Drive app read 54hz though you have 'correct tension' (within spec) from the gauge?

If you can find any demo models in the US, they received a $1250 incentive after August 15th.

Separate my idea from me for a second and tell me you disagree that we should be able to buy all tools needed to service our bikes.

I think from a strategic competitive standpoint (disregarding safety and experience), they don't want competitors access to proprietary information to Zeros. Even technicians don't get the full picture, but have something along the lines of an NDA to keep them from sharing too much.

There are probably many reasons, but the one reason I do agree with you is that most Zero dealers are quite clueless. Most technicians are strictly used to ICE service and diagnostics, where EV is an entire different animal. It would be nice to not rely on your most local dealer who may or may not be competent. I think moving forward, Zero acknowledges issues with their current service support and are in the works for changes.

On page 6.5, the manual states "Commissioning and Timing" and we have been concentrated on the Commissioning here.

What about Timing?
Is that a separate procedure we should ask for or is that part of Commissioning?
Anybody knows?
I setup my dealer appointment for the week after next as I will be out of town next week and only requested commissioning. They set it up so I can wait there which shouldn't be too bad.
Hate those "drop it off and come back later or tomorrow".

My understanding of it is, "Commission the encoder, then time the motor electronically."

Commissioning the encoder is setting the proper voltage (~4.3VDC) for the gap in position sensor. Then timing the phasing to the motor so the sine waves are in sync for controller output and motor.
