I will try to step trickle charge using the DC converter lines. I will charge outside in a field, with a fire extinguisher nearby, carefully listening for weird noises and bulging battery sides. If I can get the voltage high enough for the BMS to operate, the BMS should prevent catstrophic events. If it works at all, I expect a signifcant hit to capacity.
I do not mind risking destroying the (probably useless) battery. I would prefer to not burn my plane in the process though. In the worst case, the fire extinguisher should be able to prevent flames from spreading.

My 2018 system is in an airplane. It hibernated every winter with no problems.
But not this year. I removed the connector to the DC converter to check the battery voltage. That showed 8 volts! After 1 hour the voltage had risen to 15 volts. Went back 6 days later and the voltage was 22.4 volts.
To me it appears that there was some parasitic drain through the converter that killed the battery. But I would prefer to be wrong. Is it dead?

Wanted to report the results of my test using a Thrunderstruck controller on one charger and Diginow on the other as mentioned before:
It worked well. The Zero app reported the charging rate went from 3.1 kW to 5.5 kW. This literally saves me hours per charge.

Yes I built the plane, an eGull. I am just beginning the process of determining the best speeds to fly to get maximum range or maximum time in the air. To do that I have to do a series of tests to determine power vs speed.

I had an external 30amp, 240 volts circuit installed because my plan was to throttle the chargers slightly to fit. To use a separate 120 volt circuit, that would also have that installed. I believe that would have to be 20 amp circuit to avoid blowing a fuse at some point in the charging process. I think chargers were throttled to 13 amp to avoid overloading 15 amp circuits. So visiting other airports for recharging is problemmatic since I cannot use existing 120 volt, 15 amp circuits.
Hmm. Perhaps there is a way to get a separate 3rd party, controllable CAN controller to work with one of my Diginow (TK) chargers.
