I feel the same, weight reduction is key.

only fools are not looking for weight reduction ^^
it would improve Acceleration, range, braking, handling, low speed handling, increse lifetime for tires, brakes, Chain and sprockets...
Would be amazing to loose 40kg

I can't understand why people still acting as if our planet was infinite...
No, that's not okay to have cheaper or swappable battery... We know how to improve lithium based battery life... the best is to take care of the battery pack to avoid any replacement in the next 300.000 kms (which is achievable) while waiting for non lithium based batteries
However, I agree that it would not be a good idea to compete with chinese brand on small motorcycles sector...
would have been far better to aim at a GT or Trail version in my opinion.

I find US dealers to be very proactive and customer oriented, wish it was the same in EU...
hope they will take care of it...
here is the only answer of my dealer :
"apparently, Energica said your bike does not have DC fast charge" ... seems very strange to me... i remeber that every '18 bike (before + versions) have DC fast charge on all bikes
even if I can't have any answer from anybody from energica... not my dealer nor anybody else...
that's really depressing

I do have an eva 80 kW 2018 (Europe) with Firware 28, and never have been able to DC charge...
My dealer said that there was an update of "DC language" post 2017 and mine may not have been updated...
What a pain in the ass to make it replaced... my dealer is stuck since 6 months with Energica to find a solution...
I hope this is not your case...

I did the same setup, almost, but I solved the problem for the oiler always ON during charging.
I use a magnetic switch and got a magnet linked to my ignition key, this way, when I remove the key, I never forget to switch OFF the oiler
If you don't have magnetic switch, I would probably go for a transistor linked to tail lights
But I would prefer the USB to be switched OFF while charging, as a factory setting, or at least a parameter in the options of the bike.

I did instal a cameleon oiler on my Eva, plugged on USB Charger cables.

Sadly no. It requires changes to the wiring harness and VCU.
which is not that much to deal with is it?

I had a SV650 before buying my EVA, and don't regret it at all!
that's an heavy bike but all is pretty well balanced, this means it's not that hard to manipulate, and the slow Forward an Rear mode are helping a lot.
for cornering, that's like a big 1300 cc roadster
i never have been near from dropping the bike, even while sidelaning in city it handle well.

I'm located in france;Brittany, and here, the weather is like UK's one
i'm riding my Eva every day for commuting (20k kms), so i'm experiencing (pretty often...) big rains with big winds
ere are my thoughts :
- one of my headlight ballast have been destroyed by a short circuit, this causes the entire headlight to shut off... which is not really a good idea while riding during winter...
TIPS : even with low beam Out of service, you could use your high beams if you switch it ON BEFORE starting the bike.
this issue have been solved very efficiently by energica within the warranty by changing the light and ballast.
TIPS 2 : I put some tape under the headlight to avoid water from washing the interior of the headlight.
- I stick to rain mode when really wet, this is very slippery in sport mode, and already experienced a nearly highside 2-3 times...
my tires are now michelin Road 5 and I love it, perfect for rain and good also for sport/dry road
- the best of raining equipment is a waterproof jacket and waterploof trousers
- Charging AC under soft rain have been fine to me too, didn't try with heavy rain though

If I had it as my first bike, i won't have been able to keep it in eco or rain... for sure
As your first bike, you will be tempted to test the sport mode once you think you are used to your bike... that's evil temptation ^^ but not safe at all because in reality, you think you're ready but you're not...
this bike is pure evil for a motorcycle noob ^^

I would not recommend an energica as first bike.
Even with all electronics safety features on new models, it would be too much torque, too much speed, too much weight to learn motorcycling.
As said by some folks, it would be better to learn with a smaller, cheaper and lighter used ICE bike.
You will learn how to put a motorcycle in a corner, how to avoid panic in a slippy corner, learn to pay attention to everything around you, learn how it's like to fall, how it's like to pay for reparing your bike...and so much more
and that's a lots of things you don't want to do with your beautiful energica.
begin with a used ICE bike with less power (80 to 100 is fine to me) for 2 years, you will probably fall once or twice

My bad, you were talking about the connectors behind the usb port, i did try and that works fine
Still to link it to the on/off of the bike, i'll probably try to fit a transistor linked to front leds.
But for now it'll do the job, hope i won't forget to switch it off while charging yo avoid an oil lake in my garage ^^
