I also have switched to a 40V Dewalt Weed Wacker and chainsaw and they have far exceeded my expectations, especially the chainsaw. So quiet and easy to use.

Hey there Chewie, welcome aboard. I'm with you on the double benefit saving wear and tear on the adventure bike - I have a BMW R1200GSA and it is so much harder to force that bike into duty as a commuter, grocery getter, and errand runner. I think many people don't realize what they are missing. I noticed on the picture that you have the touring shield - that's a great option.

This is very interesting. I have never charged my C Evolution away from home, where I am paying about $0.12 per kw/hr. I think I will try to continue avoiding public chargers if they are 10x the cost.

I have to agree with you - even the ICE maxi-scooters do not sell as well here (in the US) as one would think. I for one love motorcycling and would rather go somewhere on a bike than a car, weather permitting (and this parameter has a wide range of interpretation).  I was already a motorcycle commuter when I tried my first maxi-scooter. It had to be able to keep up with the freeway traffic and carry some stuff to work and store my riding gear when I got there. A scooter provides all the good things a motorcycle does and very little of the bad (engine heat and manual transmission). Switching to an EV then considerably reduced the operating expense. It's a no-brainer IF you are able to commute much of the year and the range/recharging opportunity fits the performance envelope.

@richard230 - are you in California? That was initially the only state BMW was selling them in. Now I guess any US dealer can order them if they commit to sending a tech to school for basic maintenance. I bought mine there (Long Beach) and had it shipped to Seattle. As far as I know I have the only one in the state.

But yes, C Evo is a common abbreviation for the C Evolution Electric Scooter.  It's fighting a little bit of an uphill battle here because it's a scooter in addition to being an EV. I don't see it as a direct competitor to Zero because of that fact but the performance is similar in many respects and they have some advanced electronics (Traction Control and Level 2 Charging).  It's pretty popular in Europe and there is a months long wait time in France for some reason.

Are you measuring the circuit voltage or ohms? You typically wouldn't use an ohm meter on a powered circuit it would not give you any useful information. Probably wouldn't hurt anything in the electronics but IDK maybe it could blow an input component. You should try voltage measurements. Resistance is fine for wires and switches that are not under power but that's about it.

IAW the KISS principle and the issue with the CAN bus link going up and down - check for loose cable, socket, or maybe a bent pin.

There is a Zero rep that lives in my neighborhood, and I see his truck all the time but as far as I can recall I have never seen another electric bike on the road except at the two dealerships I've visited in the course of my wanderings. Loads of EVs though. You don't see that many motorcycles relative to the number of cars so it's really not surprising. I think in Europe it's a different story.

Mods: Why is the C Evolution topic buried in a general thread? As one of the few actually available, mass produced EV bikes on the market you would think it would rate it's own thread and increase it's chances of getting some traffic.

Is there a separate 12V battery that supplies the computer system, instruments, etc?  My C Evolution is set up that way and if that battery is dead/low the rest of the system will not work no matter what the level of charge in the 'traction' (drive system) battery. There are parasitic losses and I would not be surprised to find it discharged after almost 2 months of disuse. 

Just a thought.
