Hi folks, I need advice on battery replacement. I have an 800w Chinese moped, the batteries have been sitting around for six months without being maintained and so it only does 12 miles or so per charge. (top speed is 28mph). They're 20ah SLAs, I am going to try replacing them with a 28ah set and probably also a 10ah set (to sit in the luggage compartment). The question is, how much mileage do you think I'll get, and on the basis of mileage would I be better off with a bigger motor? I would have thought that a bigger motor (like a 1.5Kw) would consume more juice and therefore reduce range. Also at what point do ppl think that adding more batteries would just be counterproductive due to the weight? Should I just replace the 20ah pack with another one and not try for more amps, or am I right to be adventurous?

And finally, I've seen Lithium packs on Ebay - PingBattery do their 48v20ah pack for $700, and this guy called cammy_cc who does a 40ah pack for $838. Ping is well known and respected, but has anyone had any dealings with cammy? What sort of range could I expect from these battery packs?

He looks pretty kosher, but of course when the supplier is on the other side of the world and wants the best part of a grand, you want to get it right first time...
