I recently had a tire puncture and experienced the same, mine was on the front wheel. I always imagined a MC tire puncture would be quite dramatic, instead it just makes the bike feel "heavy" as you said.

Yes, should be a tiny trickle charge. I was driving for one hour with the powerbank connected, and it didnt even charge 1%, lol. But that's OK, this powerbank has fast charging (0-100% in about 3 hours), so should be quite fast to top up when near an outlet, then you got days or maybe weeks of charging.

The USBs in the tank ony charge when the MC is turned on unfortunately, beaing able to trickle charge while it is parked overnight would be the ultimate option.

A bit more flexible as it can be used for other things than charging while driving. Plenty of room for it in the storage compartment, and I can just pull an USB wire through the lid rim as before, as there is a decent gap there. Should be able to trickle charge from the built in USB as well, although probably not really useful as it would take forever to charge it fully. But, might help it stretch longer.

So, I use my mounted smartphone for navigation, and currently I simply pull an USB A to C from one of the tanks two USB A ports through the lid and connect it to the mounted phone while driving. Problem is, the charging helps the phone to maintain charge a bit longer, but its still dropping, since the built in USB ports simply doesnt deliver many watts (ChatGPT suggested its 5W, not sure if thats correct).

From what I understand I will need to make a new high power USB fom the bikes SAE connector to be able to ac tually charge the phone? I found some info here:

My belt broke yesterday on the freeway. Three year old SR/F, I guess it was due. I do not have a spare, but it would have been too dangerous to change it due to the high speed traffic anyway. Sure would be nice to have a spare belt though since the local repair shop had to order one from Zero, and that takes nearly two weeks.

So, with the Cypher store finally working again I am considering getting the parking mode upgrade and the 10% faster charging option. However, it says dealer installation required after the unlock.

Did anyone try this? I wonder how much work it is for the dealer to complete the unlock? Just asking as the season just started now, and they are exceptionally busy.

Also, anyone had any real life experience with the 10% faster charging (I got the premium SR/F)? I suppose it also depends heavily on the charging station. So, perhaps it wont really make a difference unless it is a high capacity one.

Seems a bit optimistic to sell the upgrade as 10% faster charging if only the highest capacity charging stations will allow it?

Ended up being good news. Under warranty, the 6.5 KWH battery was replaced with a 7.2 KWH battery. I know have about four times the range as my bad battery and no trace of magic charging.


It's the perfect bike to take on these RV trips. Most of my riding on these trips is city riding, so it gets excellent range even with the half-sized battery. Light enough to carry on the RV's hitch.

Wow, that is encouraging input, thanks, I just thought this was some poorly calibrated range estimate. I had no idea that they might have upgraded the battery to a higher capacity one, I assumed they would have replaced it with the same type? But it does make sense they would change to a current battery pack, which is what Zero most likely would have available in storage.

I asked the service spot for details about what exactly they did, but noone seemed to know and the guy who worked on it was not there when I picked it up... It is really a messy service station in my experience.  :o

is there any way to verify what type of battery is installed, without involving them?

So, another update on this thread.

As mentioned earlier, the service guys only did an OTA firmware update and told me to collect the bike. I thought about it and instead told them that they could sell the bike for me, with 10% commission, something they offer to their customers if the bike is in good shape. I just had no faith in them actually having fixed the issue, so selling it just was a better final solution.

They accepted, and suddenly it seems they were more interested in making sure it was working well, as they would be responsible for the sale, so they did some more thorough checking and involved Zero. They found the problem I was telling them about, and spent the winter getting a new battery and finally installing it just a few days ago.

Then they told me they were too busy to sell my bike after all and asked me to pick it up. So, well, I thought that is fine since they finally seem to have done a proper job fixing it.

Just got it back, will update you guys on wether the magic charge problem is truly gone or not. I heard others here say they replaced the battery and still had the issue, so who knows...

At least the motorbike is reeally optimistic on the range at the moment. 220km on what it claims to be 89% charge, hm...

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere already, but I just got my Zero SR/F 2020 Premium back from service, after 6 months they finally changed the battery. Hopefully that takes care of the range issues I was having...

As I paired my Zero Next Gen app (Android) with my bike to ensure it has the latest firmwares (it has), I found there is now a couple of new choices. Log In (at least I think it is new?) and Cypher Store.

Selecting "Cypher Store", gives me the error popup:

"Map engine initialization. Error: UNKNOWN. Unknown error occurred during engine init".

This error message appears wether I am connected via bluetooth or not.

Selecting "Log In" gives me:

"Map engine initialization. Error: USAGE_EXPIRED. Evaluation version is over".

I never initiated any trial of anything, although I have no idea what the service guys might have done to the bike during the 6 months it was there

I would be interested in unlocking parking assistance (greyed out in my dash's menu now) and extended range. But seems no way? Is this feature disabled on my 2020 Premium version, or is something broken? Any workaround?

Probably not related, but I noticed my SR/F wont be able to accelerate as fast once the remaining battery charge is under a certain treshold. It is mostly noticeable at high speeds, while acceleration at low speed seem less affected.

Yes, that was what I was hpoing for when giving the serivce shop my bike before the winter, I thought they would have plenty of time to order a new battery and fix it properly. Instead they called me after a few days and said they fixed it, but didnt want to specify how. After pushing them it turned out they just installed the latest OTA firmware after doing some basic tests. So, my confidence is low. :P

I will post an update if I do not sell it. However, I will probably just go for the 2023 edition and sell the 2020 model. It is an expensive upgrade, but if that is what it takes to ride with confidence without more back and forth to the servide spot then I will just do that.
