Regarding the site https://zero-motorcycle-community.github.io/browser-parse/zero-log-parser.html, that was last updated on may 8th 2017 which is why it does not read recent logs which have had new firmware, the offsets for data are at the wrong positions, its still usefull for older unchanged bikes though. Here is some c code i cobbled together from the info in the python script behind the site http://home.hasslers.net/zerologparser/log_parser.php. If you cut and paste it into a C compiler it will produce a cmd line utility that attempts to give out log file header info.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: UK Insurers/Brokers
« on: May 28, 2019, 02:28:53 AM »
Your situation was similar to mine back in 2016. Only Lexham would insure my FXZ 6.5 and only 3rd party accident, no fire or theft cover. Over 9yrs no claims with a Kawasaki Z750 counted for nothing, had to start again with no claims bonus. Here's how it went, 2016 £842.00p. 2017 £711.38p. 2018 £308.74 mentioning i had 2yrs no claims bonus, so you can see they are not out to exploit their virtual monopoly, you just have to stay with them and build a no claims discount. I only got insured with them by sending photos of my rented concrete steel door garage with CCTV and security gates, then in late 2018 the council demolished it to make way for estate regeneration. The bikes in storage now.

Tech Help / Home made rear axle stand on Zero FXS
« on: June 04, 2017, 02:09:17 AM »
I wanted to make use of the hollow rear axle feature on my 2016 Zero 6.5 FXS with a axle stand, so with some surplus materials i put this together, construction only needed drilling, bolting, and  hack sawing, no welding which was a help as i had no idea if it would work. It works well, don't need to remove the batteries to use it, now belt inspection, wheel cleaning, digging out stone and glass chips from the tire is a whole lot easier.

Tracked down this fault to the front brake lever micro switch. The rubber dirt and moisture  seal around the push button was constricting movement, making the contacts after a few seconds instead of instantly. Not what you want in a switch as slow separation leads to arcing and oxidation on the contact surfaces which is what i found. The switch can be taken apart as the top part clips on to the body that has the mechanism, cleaned it with contact cleaning strips (never use abrasive paper or scrapers) you can use leather for this as well.
Take extreme care when the top is unclipped as the contact is only held by a spring and it's murder to get it back in place, it's so small. It appears that a standard sub minature micro switch is a direct replacement as the mounting holes and push button location match. Its all back working fast now minus most of the seal that was causing the slow down. Incidently the loom wiring connections are sound, Zero have done a quality job on that score.

Front brake not switching on brake light even though rear brake did. Decided to investigate even though bike 5 months old and dealer could have done it. Opened wiring loom and traced
white/red wire from rear brake switch to where it joins white/red from front brake switch. It joins a 3rd wire that goes to light the actual brake warning light, all just crimped or soldered together, covered with heatshrink, pressing it brought back the front brake function, i think it's a dry solder joint or badly crimped. I'm going to open the heatshrink and re-solder, hopefully that will cure it, it's a dangerous fault on an electric bike when braking, as there is not even decreasing engine noise to alert a following vehicle you are slowing.
