BTW this motorcycle is the best thing in the world. This is the only major issue I ever had in six years. I ride almost every day.

I lived with hot cord too long. Started to smoke. Big mistake.
Resistance builds up where there is a weak connection. This causes heat.
I removed the AC plug (male) from motorcycle and dissembled it at the heat source.
After cleaning and soldering the connection and covering everything with liquid tape and epoxy the plug is cool when charging now.
Job is easy . About an hour with a day for epoxy to dry.

11,000 km so far, daily commuter. No real problem except loose wire on a headlight. Fixed with electrical tape. oh, the dealer did the firmware update wrong the first time and I had to go back to fix it. No cost but inconvenient.
Still best bike I have ever owned. I would buy it again.
Three years old. Range is only 2% less than new bike. Better than I expected.

Have you tried the " Bluetooth connectivity" discoverability part of the App?
That fixed it for me. Had to hold the mode button on the motorcycle to connect.

Updated firmware in June 2018.
No issues with update. Two years old and still best bike I have ever owned.
Updated July
after update odometer frozen at last firmware update. everyday range gets worse. Uses 40% more battery charge to do same trip as before. I didn't notice this right away but after a few rides noticed it was
worse after update.
Update end of July 2018 again:
Dealer had wrong type of motorcycle selected in firmware update. Fixed the update and now bike is better than ever. Total cost was two trips to the dealer to fix it. Lesson learned for me was make sure that your odometer works before you leave the dealer after the update.
Still love this bike.

it is real easy.
First slow down and put the dremel thing away.
(I just repaired a few rock chips out of my SR fender and it looks new again) cost about $15.
there are tons of youtube videos about auto paint repair so do some watching to see what will help you..
We don't know how bad you paint damage is but I bet if you go to your local body shop they will have a simple way to fix it.
In case others want to fix their paint.
1. hand sand (lightly ) it off with 100 grit, 400 grit, then 800 grit wet . This is scary the first time.
2. spray paint it (in Canada Honda Milano Red from Canadian Tire is a good match). Other wise follow instruction on the can.
3. Sand lightly between coats with 800 grit then 1000 grit.
4. Spray Clear coat - lightly sand 2000 grit between coats as per instructions.
5. after a few days use cut polish, then fine cut polish, then wax
Don't use mechanical buffers unless you got experience.
Voilà good as new.
Spray can might leave some orange peel if you are not careful. But that is the cheapest way.

I used a simple heat gun, the kind that kids use for crafts etc. It is just melted plastic. Very simple.
I used the plastic glue stick on the inside of the plastic repair. It seems to hold so far. Total cost 10 cents.
Sanding and painting again is the hard part.

« on: June 12, 2017, 09:15:13 PM »I test drove a Zero a while back and put my BMW F800 street bike up for sale that afternoon. I bought the Zero a year ago. Now, if BMW (or anyone) offered me two gas bikes for my Zero I would say no.
Do you remember how we had these wonderful film cameras and then digital cameras started getting really good? In a matter of 5 years your $1,000 film camera was worthless. You ICE bike will be the same, its just a matter of when.
When batteries go solid state everything will change.
