And a bright paint job!

KTM 85 SX... it's supposed to have the same bolt pattern (but I have not tried myself) https://electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=4559.0

Updates:

1.  Fixed at a diesel truck repair shop. Soaked in red loctite.

2.  Stll need a sprocket.  AF1 and other zero shops are closed today, so I'll try tomorrow.

Yes, I'll second Richard's recommendation for pads.... I've used the EBC HH pads front and rear for ~60k miles on my '16 DS and like them a lot!

Energica / Re: Hand guards for the SS9?

how to I tag another user here?  TOGO has some powermadd hand guards on his SS9 that mount only inboard of the controls... ask him what model he has?

Thanks for the post
Apologies if I'm missing how this gets usable hand guards on my SS9+

Tony, I see you're rocking the A660 windscreen now :)  Sorry to miss this one, but I had other things that needed to get done today...

I'll be on the SS9+ with the windshield and handguards

The difference between the E and the Z when you have to pick them up off the pavement is not insignificant.  Don't ask me how I know.  :'(

I find myself wondering where all that weight is on the Energicas. The Zeros had until recently the same size battery or thereabouts and weigh a totally reasonable 225-odd kg. So that's 45kg of "stuff" lurking within the Energicas. I suppose there's a bit of extra weight with the liquid cooling - but it shouldn't be much.

Cas :)
And a gear box.

But  I don't understand why the weight is such an issue to so many. I can ride my extra heavy SS9-  at around 3 MPH with no problem and I cannot say even I then notice its weight. Below 3 MPH is also no issue. Walk with it  with the slow forward and reverse.

I have had more issues with my SR being too heavy as it has no reverse. But it needs no slow forward because of the great slow speed throttle response  in Eco mode. But it has no reverse, which can make it difficult just to get my SR out of the garage here. With my SS9, I simply press a button to reverse out.

I have woodcraft bar end sliders on my Eva...they've just got an M6? bolt/nut squeezing a 5/8" cylinder of rubber inside the bar and it's fairly solid.  Maybe you could just try replacing the metal sleeve on the barkbusters assembly with a rubber stopper from the hardware store (#2 has a diameter of 15mm-19mm) with a hole drilled in the center to accommodate the bolt?

Yep, that is too long Demoni...I tried on my Eva with an extra set that I had on hand.  There's a step inside the Eva bars that is problematic.  You might be able to shorten the insert or maybe add a spacer outside the bar (barkbusters includes such a spacer in their kit for the Storm).

I am confused by why the 14mm insert would not work?

Just for reference this is the insert you have as part of your kit?

Looking at the parts of the kit on the webpage and the install video they work with a variety of different bar IDs.
When tightened the little threaded piece pulls back expanding the metal insert to the ID of the bars.

The only reason I can see for the flange is to prevent the hardware used to secure bar ends from slipping too far into the bars. I can take a look tomorrow to see if it would be possible to drill this out to provide the required depth for inserts.

Energica / Re: Charging issue on a 2021 SS9+
« on: October 20, 2020, 11:13:22 PM »
Wow, I'm just tuning into this thread now.  My 2017 Eva exhibits the exact same behavior as the OP describes.  Parked in my cool garage (~65F) and plugged into my Tesla Wall Connector, the bike starts at/near 13A and, within 20 minutes or so, will throttle back to 9-10A.  Out of curiosity, I tested on a J1772 (Chargepoint) last week, and got the same behavior out in the wild.

Yes, I like the barkbusters storm  hand guards on my Zero DS, but they definitely don't fit the handle bars on my Eva.  You might be able to get them to work with this fit kit:  https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/barkbusters-bar-end-mounting-kit-18mm-plastic-insert?sku_id=899169

I second this suggestion.

Swap riders, repeat and find out for sure if it's a rider issue? (style, size, mass, etc.)

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Motor Replacement time?
« on: May 07, 2020, 12:27:31 AM »
I think this behavior is quite common...my bike shows a consistent +30degF on motor temp relative to ambient after sitting overnight, and I believe I've read that others see similar behavior.

But the loss of range/jerkiness make me suspect that the motor commissioning didn't go well.  I've seen first-hand that is process can be a bit finicky, especially with an older bike/motor, and I had a similar drop in range after a dealer-performed commissioning about 1.5 years ago.  My range improved after the motor was recommissioned a second/third/fourth/fifth time.

Haven't ridden in 2 days.  30°F spread between the motor temp and other sensors.  Perhaps the sensor got cooked along with the motor.

I'm inclined to meter out the motor.  I'd just need to find a garage in which to do it.  I live in an apartment and the parking lot is less than ideal.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: My DS 6.5 Battery
« on: May 06, 2020, 03:25:27 AM »
You can check the battery capacity for yourself using something like this https://shop.ecmcables.com/tuning-cables/Zero-Cables  to connect to the OBD port on your bike.  My '16 DS 13.0 battery was replaced earlier this year. After 3.5 years and 66k miles it was showing ~82% capacity, and Zero agreed to replace it under warranty.

Hi, Don, and everyone. Do you know what the actual battery warranty is? I know it's 5 years/100k miles for my 2014 S, but what is the degradation, 20%? I think that means if the capacity drops to below 80%, they will replace the battery? Is there a way to check that other than at the dealer?

Thanks,
BC

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Zero OEM rack extension plate
« on: April 29, 2020, 04:09:23 AM »
I cut a piece of plywood and bolted it onto the plate for my DS top case rack.  It adds just enough surface area to be able to strap some stuff onto it with a bungee net (I can remove the little back rest with 2 thumb screws).

« on: February 27, 2020, 02:58:05 AM »
Oh, looking at this post makes me realize that I met you at Re-Cycle on Sunday (I have the orange DS that was there)...it was great to meet you, and I really like the grip pads that you added to the frame of your bike!

-Nate

You can see my grip locations in this post:  https://www.electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=9890.msg88839#msg88839

I do think the standard grips are insufficient, but they look really nice on the colored tanks.  My pads on the sides do the most of the work.  Getting them straight is... Not easy, but they'll wear out like tires eventually.  I went with their shark-skin style ones and I have to grip and ungrip my knees to reposition, and sometimes my pads get caught when I jump on, but... I think that's actually better.  My cornering is much more secure now.
