yeah, I have been seriously looking at having my own current model FX and update to be full moto-x. I had thought about the extra battery to swap between motos.  buuuuut, if I go that route, then I am tossing the idea of two FX's, as the price of one 3.3 module is pretty high so having to buy two modules (to be a 6.5 and add about 40 pounds) is almost the cost of another bike anyways (plus quick chargers, Y cables....) and having the spare bike is of interest (I crash a lot and just have that luck of breaking something when I only bring one racebike!)

additionally, high on the priority list to prep bike is the doing FX Chain kit and the Fox shock. as you mention, I think a race tech guy could easily work the forks into full moto shape.

awesome that you will have an FXS soon!  what's your solution to using the FX front wheel on the FXS forks? caliper spacer/bracket/hangar perhaps?

if you get an FX and do some suspension work, you will be ok for most riding. all of the new showa suspension can be worked by race tech or any other decent suspension shop. biggest limiting factor will be the battery life though. dont know what kind of moto time or distance you are doing but if your serious you may look at getting extra battery packs so you can hot-swap them at the race while the set you just used up can be put on the speed chargers, of which you will need 2. adds a lot of cost but....

i pick up my new '16 FX-S next week. putting in the order just in time to still get the $650 "fuel for life" gift card. my plan is to use the card to buy FX wheels so i can swap between SM and MX mode. catch has been the front brake rotor, trying to use the smaller FX rotor on the FX-S presents some real challenges. luckily i think i have it solved, or at least will have by the time i get the card.

laters,

laramie  ;)

thanks for the welcome! I only have limited seat time on a borrowed FX, but was impressed enough to make the decision to get my hands on an electric full blown mx bike of my own as soon as possible. doing as much research as i can. I missed my boat to simply buy a Zero MX and head to a motocross track, since they are no longer produced!!  :'(  A converted FX such as I had seat time on seems like the way to go.
