Thanks for your help.  I should have looked harder at the charger side in the first place (as you suggested), could have saved some time. Getting to a dealer will be a pain in the but now that the ones closest to me keep closing or dropping zero.  It will also be a pain in the wallet since I am way out of warrantee.  Hopefully I can get in another trouble free year.

I am really happy I was able to get the new battery before I dropped out of warrantee, it's been great.

Cas: I just updated the firmware to 44/19, and tried again.  No dice.  I put it into storage mode with the app, and saw the "Warning in storage mode" message on key on. 

MVetter: I tried both my 120v charger and my Level 2 in the garage.  The bike powers up with the charger connection in both cases, but just never starts charging.  With the 120v charger, it just stays on the charging screen with 0W, with the Level 2, it turns back off after a minute or so.

No errors on the dashboard menu.  I guess I may have to take a crack at logs.  My  nearest dealer is now ~100 miles away.

Anyone else had a bike just not start charging after sitting for a while?  When I plug in the charger, the contactor closes but it does not start charging.  After a minute or so it just shuts back off.  I had set my charge level to 60% for storage and was just going to top it off like I have a few times over the winter.  It's at 51% now.  It keys on and powers up OK without errors.

It's going into the shop today. I'll let them deal with it. 

I wish I had a shop.  The one closest to me closed to zeros anyway (~50 miles), now I have to go closer to 90 miles if I need service (bummer).

there's always going to be a little resistance, especially if any energy is on the motor, ie it's on and you have regen set.


if you were losing a bearing, it'd be fairly noisy too, you should hear rattling, grinding, noises that just.. shouldn't be there.  heft the bike up on the stand, turn it on and give it a little whirl, see if you can see / hear anything that may be off on it.


with that out of the way, the rear wheel should not give you problems in the front as you describe.

front wheel is always going to go roundy roundy because there's nothing on it, unless you are dragging a brake
back wheel is always going to be a bit stiff, it's got a chain / belt on it and is driving a motor, which if it's energized ANY, even if you are not riding, is going to have some sort of field on it, which may give you... lets call it magnetic braking/resistance.  it won't go roundy roundy, it'll go, brrrR and come fairly quickly to a stop, because it's doing work, with no more active energy input to it, (you pushing it).

besides for cornering, any other oddities when riding, does it feel squishy, wants to wiggle around, which would indicate tire issues.

if you have a slow leak, you can get to the point where it suddenly feels like you are riding in mud.

with what jaime told you to do, tires should be checked every ride, as they often won't give you any indication they are low until it's very late in the game, and now they are critically low. 

if it is a tire and you were at the point where it was affecting your ride that significantly, you need to check your tires very carefully, as that can damage them really quick.  it won't be tread damage but cracking on the sidewalls and possible internal damage you didn't see.  keep an eye on them for bubbling and things that would require an immediate replacement.

Thanks Aaron, it was the rear tire pressure (it was VERY low, I can't believe I did not check that first).  I ordered a new set of tires anyway since my Diablo Rosso III tires were nearly showing the wear bars..

I went to take a ride on my 2020 SR/F last week and it suddenly felt very strange while riding.  It felt like the front end was really "heavy" while cornering and my rolling resistance felt higher than normal (even when backing the bike out from the garage).  I put it up on the stands and both wheels seem to roll freely, but the rear wheel might be a little "stiffer" than before.  How free should the rear wheel roll when off the ground with power off?  I'm thinking perhaps I lost a bearing on the motor or rear wheel (the front wheel is very free).

What I would like to know is why did he get rid of the entire SuperCharger division?  Was it just to save money, did he have an axe to grind over some people in the division, or did it just feel good to screw over his employees and potentially the people that need to use the system in the future - like owners of Ford EVs? The guy is apparently really smart, but scary as a businessman and I sure wouldn't want to work for him.

But then I never understood from a financial point of view, why he bought Twitter and then pretty much destroyed it, so that it is now only worth a fraction of the price that he bought it for and only has a fraction of the former number of people using it. (Plus, calling it "X" makes it very awkward for anyone quoting a post from it.)

He is nuts.  Sorry Specter.  That's why I refuse to purchase anything he makes, and would never work in any of his ventures (unless my life depended on it ).

I don't know how many times the car failed to start in the cold because of water in the gas line, not to mention the fuel economy goes to shit on both EV's and ICE when you load them up.  That's just a physics thing,  oh the inconvenient truths!  Let's not forget the pumps not even working because they are froze up.

Here's something they won't tell you about EV's in the cold,  you get your heat Right  NOW.  You don't have to wait 25 minutes for the engine to warm up before you can start warming up!

BTW when the power is out because of a hurricane,  HOW ARE YOU GOING TO CHARGE ASSHOLE !!!!!!!     Umm.... the same way your pump at the gas station will run,, ASSHOLE...  Oh wait,  You will have to wait 3 weeks for them to re run the grid to the station because everything was flattened.  My panels still work, I literally can throw them out in the yard and oh hey look, my vehicle is charged and I can get around.  Maybe I'll swing by to make sure you are ok and bring some hot coffee to you.

I've been fast charging my Ioniq 5 for a year now, and it never takes more than 25 minutes to go from below 20% to 80+% SOC (even when it's cold out, and at a 150KW charger (the car would be faster on a 350KW charger).  I'm only fast charging since it's free.  If I were level 2 charging it takes no time (as we all know, plug in when you are not using it and it's always ready).  The battery has a 10 year warrantee (so I'm not so worried about that either).  It's amazing how well the oil industry has done pumping misinformation into the market, and how suckers are willing to take it at face value.

You are spot on on the heat, it is warm in the cabin super fast!

Yep, same old tired points.  I agree 100% that the charging networks could be better, especially here on the east coast, but it's not often I NEED a fast charger anyway.

I can't wait until some of the potential battery technologies are in shipping (solid state etc.) that give cars 1000 mile range and can charge in 10 minutes, then what will the EV haters have to complain about?
