My dealer has completed the installation of the battery but is saying the 12V side of the bike has no power and he firsts wants to charge the battery.

However my onboard Calex charger failed a while ago and I have replaced it with an off board deltaQ QuiQ charger.

My understanding is that the QuiQ charger wont be able to charge the battery as the bike first needs to boot up first before the contactor will close. Hence the need to power on the bike and have it close the contactor before initialising the charge with the QuiQ charger.

Is that correct?

Will the dealer need to get hold of a Calex charger to have the CAN port to close the contactor to get the battery to charge?

Or can I take him the QuiQ charger to resurrect the battery?

I’d also like to add that this post is in no way criticism of Zero or the dealer, I am merely trying to better understand the technology on the motorcycle and the procedures followed during the maintenance being performed.

Another concern I have is the dealer says the bike doesnt power up, there is no display on the dash

When the monolith is replaced, is it merely plug and play or do the Zero technicians need to do anything? I guess what I am asking is if the battery and BMS were fine, then would the bike work without Zero intervening?

When they did the diagnostics last year on the bike, they upgraded all the firmware to the latest.

I have asked many, many questions but they aren%u2019t forth coming unfortunately.

I suspect they are measuring the voltage on the doghouse terminals but if the contactor is open then there should be no voltage at all, correct? I don%u2019t think the voltage is being read from the serial port on the BMS. Are there other terminals on the monolith were voltage is measurable?

That’s great, what percentage of the battery could I expect to use for a daily trip?

Are you saying it cant be done with the 7.2?

Or is going to be awkward to carry a 7.2?

I guess what I am asking is if it is possible with to remove the 7.2 to charge it inside on a separate charger?

Unfortunately I have asked the dealer but they say they dont know. Zero's are scarce here and the dealership has moved about a year ago so the guys are still new to this which makes me nervous.

I realize the BMS is a separate part and can be replaced should it fail, just not sure if the larger monolith would come with a new BMS preinstalled.

When I run 'bms' from the terminal window, I get a serial number for the BMS. Would be very helpful to see if the serial number is the same or has changed after the replacement.
