Hi Amicb

thank you for your reply!

I don't think the controller is fried, it stll works most of the time, but not always. If it would be fried, I think would not drive anymore.

Best wishes
ProgrammerOnWheels

That was exactly the same behaviour when mine was about to get completely fried in my DS 2010, don´t know if it´s your case. If one day yours refuses completely to run check it, and if the controller needs replacement don´t forget to install a precharge.

Cheers!

Did you install a pre charge resistor before the Alltrax?

Have a look at this: https://alltraxinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Doc100-003-B_OP-AXE-Operators-Manual.pdf

Alltrax on 2010 and 2011 used to fry if no pre charge resistor was installed.

Congrats David!

I was able to do the same by buying the same sensor the motor had, which is from the supplier RLS but I´m wondering if yours is the same sensor or Motenergy has replaced it by a different one. Do you have any pic from the sensor?

I informed Zero about this fix a couple of years ago but it seems that either they didn´t have any interest in keeping the <12 models in the streets or they just wanted to put the new motors in the old bikes...

By the way, as you say it´s crucial to keep the motor timing, otherwise expect to see some magnets flying out ot the motor...

I want to upgrade to an SR. The S is otherwise superb but somethimes I miss some more acceleration. By the way I still keep my first DS 2010!!! Where are you located?

I know... unfortunately not many electric riders here in Spain. I have not advertised it locally as there is not many interest here and I get so many ridiculous offers...

When I sold my 2012 it took me some months and I had to lower the price to a point that it was almost a gift.

BTW my bike was bought in march this year so it has still 1 year and three months warranty on the whole bike.

Nobody interested??? New offer: 8000€. Reasonable offers are also welcome.

I haven´t dissasebled the throttle on my S 2014 but assuming it´s the same throttle the MY2010 have try to disassemble and reassemble it. I had some issues with my zero DS 2010 (with closed throttle te bike tried to accelerate a little bit until a point in which I got a throttle error and the bike didn´t work anymore). I dissasembled the throttle and after repositioning the potentiometer in the 0 position it worked fine again. Make sure the screw which is preventing the potentiometer from rotating is properly fixed. Maybe you have a different problem but it´s so easy it´s worth a try.

Thanks guys for your comments, appreciated.

I think I will keep my S2014 as it is at least until the 2-year period warranty has ended and let´s see what are the options then (this will happen in March 2018).

This sometimes happens to me if I unplug the bike from the wall socket and turn it on before the digits on the dash dissapear (Zero S 2014). The solution in that case: turn the bike off, wait for a few seconds until no information is shown in the dash and turn it on again. Suppose this has to do with some capacitors that need some time to discharge.

I updated the firmware but the behaviour before and after are the same.

Well it depends on how much the controller change costs... For me the S 2014 is awesome, reliable and meets all my demands for everyday use. I´m basically searching for a faster acceleration to increase the "ride fun" a couple of times a month, which maybe does not justify buying a new bike. i´ve been changing my Zeros each 2 years and I bought the last one on March this year so I hope to keep the 2014 at least until 2018.

Ok so basically if I change the controller and the MBB (update or change) I would have a SR with the S motor: if I overheat the magnets i would need to change the motor to the hi-temp magnet motor... but if i keep an eye on the temp indicator in the dash and I don't overheat them everything should work.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Upgrade Zero S 2014 to SR
« on: October 24, 2016, 03:40:14 PM »
Hi guys,

¿Would it be possible to upgrade a S to a SR by just changing the SEVCON and the related SW in the MBB or are there any other needed changes? I´m very happy with my S 2014 (completely reliable after 6000km) and I was wondering if this could be done.

Regards from Spain

Buy Sell Trade / Zero S 2014 11,4 5200km

Hi all,

I´m thinking of selling my S 2014 11,4 with only 5200km to get an SR. The bike was bought in March this year and is in perfect condition. It has a Givi windscreen and the original top case rack. I´m asking 8500 for it and I´m located in Zaragoza, Spain.
