So Morimaxx. are you rebuilding or replacing the FastAce?
I agree, they're pretty ordinary.
The whole front end seems a bit unbalanced to me.
Has anybody done mods on the front end they're happy with?

I agree on the handling bit; mine took a lot of fiddling and adjustment to get right and a decent set of tyres too. Vastly improved ALTHOUGH, I still have some pretty horrible stiction in the forks and I'm still unhappy with my brakes. What I have definitely found is that my riding "stance" makes a huge difference to the way the bike behaves. On a nice day on a  quiet road with my mojo on, like most I ride and position myself a bit more aggressively. More weight over the front, elbows out and use the bike more aggressively and she instantly starts to respond differently. In the right situation, ridden the right way my DS starts to feel like a great machine

+1 to all that. Done the preload, got the good tyres. Gone hard up and down Mt Mee, yes - if you make like a motohero it does corner.
The Chinese kwaka copy just does it out of the box.
I ride the Zero 5 days a week. Nothing beats it on the straight line from Wavell Height to Brendale, return. Nothing beats it in Brisbane metro. I'm thinking of getting rid of the puig screen because it looks ugly. I'm thnking of stripping the beemer chargers off it cos they look ugly. A naked Zero is a beautiful thing.
Weekends, I'm on Stitch, the kwaka copy, cos its comfy, goes around corners and doesn't need to stop for two hours every 100kms.
And it comes with a fairing, windscreen and leg rests ( disguised as winglets )
As I said in the 2016 thread, wake me up when Zero build a tourer.

I've had my Zero S for over a year now and I love it.
I've tried to make it more suitable for longer trips, with 3.6kW of onboard charging, airhawks, sheepskin and panniers.
Unfortunately, it is not practical for round trips longer than 100km unless you're prepared to wait for >2 hours every 100km.
Trying to find suitable charge points is difficult as well.
Plus the seat is still a PITA even with Airhawks.
Lack of fairing makes highway travel very tiring.
The Zero has reawakened my love of riding so I'm looking at the CFMoto 650TK as a cheap (seems to be OK on the reviews) weekend tourer.
The Zero will still be my weekday weapon of choice but it is not a weekend bike.

You've probably already done it so I hope it went well.
Hopefully you didn't find that the Zero S is fine when you drop it.
You can drop it on top of you to save the plastic - it's bottom heavy so think quick and get your knee under the tank.
Best not to tell the girlfriend that.
If it was a mate, he either lands with the bike on top of him or dies.
The handlebar is made of plasticine and you will need new mirrors - nothing that a few hundred dollars won't fix.
Shrug it off, smile, apologise for the bike and with any luck you'll still be reasonably popular.

Zero price is way over priced.!!!!

Is the belt tension correct? First time I had the rear replaced on my 2014 SR the mechanic over-tightened the belt, which caused a vibration that only happened in a range of speeds...higher or lower speeds were smooth. I loosened it a tad and it went away completely.

There's no need to touch the belt when removing and replacing the rear wheel.
If your tyre fitter can't R&R the wheel properly or balance the wheel after fitting a new tyre, kick him in the nuts and find a competent tyre fitter.

You can thread it through the sleeves of your jacket, through the helmet and lock.
