Actually, I have the opposite reaction whenever I go to biker hangouts with my Zero.  Someone always comes up to me and asks me if it's one of those "electric bikes they've heard about."  Most of them didn't think they'd ever get to see one in real life and more than one were surprised to hear there is a local dealership where they can go demo one and buy one of their own.

I started going to some local "Electric Vehicle Gatherings" and (so far) I've been the only motorcyclist present and I always seem to attract the biggest crowd.

I have been to a number of EV events over the past 10 years and my observation, at least here in the SF Bay Area, is that electric cars get a lot more attention from the public than electric motorcycles.  Thanks to my Zero, I am only adding about 300 miles to my car's odometer each year - which doesn't seem to make much difference to my car's insurance premium, unfortunately.  [emoji20]
State Farm has reduced rates for low mileage cars. It's a program called Drive Safe and Save. I use it for a couple low-mileage cars I own. E-mail me if you have any questions (I'm not on these forums very much):

Can SCv2 be mounted in another spot on the bike? Although belly pan is a convenient location, doesn't this heat up the battery during charging, same as the stock charger? Many people have said the stock charger is not installed in a good location, for this reason.
Could SCv2 be mounted on the rear-top rack, such that it doesn't heat up the battery, and the charger has much better air cooling too? For me (and maybe others), I only use my Zero for commuting. If/when I have a need for fast charging on the occasional road trip, I may want to ability to install it for the trip, and remove them when I get back home. My need for fast charging would be very rare.

The onboard charger seems to be the weak link in current design (mine failed on my 2015 SR too).
Simplest solution? Just get an external charger. If you don't need a $1000+ onboard quick charger (i.e. always charge overnight at home), try to find a deal on a Delta Q charger. I've been using one of these for a couple months, and it works great (just slow). It also draws less power from your wall outlet, which can be a good thing.

If you are connected to your phone while you ride, FOBO bike works well. No display mounted to your bike, it uses the phone as a an alert/display device.

  Had previously sent Email to Zero.  I just sent this to my dealer (Hollywood Electrics) yesterday, and they responded right away.  Unfortunately, I need to bring the bike in for diagnostics. 
  Since I live far from a dealer, I will have to rent a trailer and set aside a day to bring it.  I also depend on the bike for daily transportation.  I knew the risk going in, bit at least it's working for me while I figure out the best time to bring it in.

Any update?

Where are you taking it? I recommend SJ BMW if you're in South Bay.
Charger failures is known issue, I got mine replaced too (in warranty). They said it is an $840 part, but there's a good chance Zero will replace yours for free (you're just barely out of warranty).

I got the charger on my 2015 SR replaced a couple months ago at SJ BMW. Very pleased with the experience. Service manager (Doug) is knowledgeable and respectful. Check-in can be slow if you're not the first in line at 9am when they open. They had my bike for a couple days, with a phone call to tell me it was done. Parking and overall access is very easy.
In spite of selling/servicing mostly gas bikes, these guys are serious about Zero and helping them be successful.
I recommend this shop.

Zero designed the S/SR as a street (not sport) bike, as the majority of riders will use it for commuting. It's not intended for long distance cruising, so it doesn't look like a cruiser.
I'm 5'6", and the SR fits me very well. I know I'm below average height [emoji19]
It would be good for Zero to expand their product line for more models/sizes, but that costs lots of $$$... For now, maybe the FX/FXS would be a better fit/look for taller folks like yourself? If not, just wait 10-15 years until someone makes an electric cruiser [emoji2]

you dont have to have a wrench that size to take the wheel off.

leave the pinch bolts as they are on this side.
loosen them on the other side.
remove the nut or bolt on the other side,
now loosen the pinch bolts.
You can now push the axle out.

most motorcycles are like this. Theres no reason for a large hex unless something bad happened.
Pinch bolts are only on one side on this bike, so that won't work. Also, the axle bolt is threaded into the other side, so a wrench IS necessary.

I measured it too, looks more like 17 or 18mm to my eye. Tough to visually measure down to the exact mm. I'm hoping somebody can confirm by saying they have XXmm tool and it works.
