Hi there!

I´m offering a used (but in mint condition) conversion kit, which makes it possible to use a KTM rear wheel on a zero fx and zeros using the same swing arm.
Because of the fact, that it is easier to find a used ktm wheel than a zero rear wheel i made this kit.
It has a custom made aluminium 65 tooth sprocket wheel, a spacer 5mm for the axle and 6 spacers with screws to put between the wheel hub and the brake disc.

Hi!

I am selling a Magura kit including brake pump for handle bar left side, and steel-flex hydraulic connection to the rear brake caliper.
It was mounted on my Zero FX 2013. Shurely it fits also to the other Zero models.

Hi everybody,

in my opinion the FX has only poor real offroad Qualities compared to my KTM 500 EXC.
If you ride to fast in medium heavy offroad, the motor gets too hot pretty soon, especially with warm outside temperatures.
This comes to a complete stop, if you don´t descend your speed.
But the most worse is the suspension.
The fork is not very sensible and the it has no reseve, if you jump a little bit. (just for your info: My weight is only 70kg)
The rear shock is the same: You can adjust it to be sensible, but then without rest-resource for a hard hit.
Or you adjust it harder, but then without any sensibility.
A progressive rear shock mechanism would have been better here.

To all this comes the very water-sensitive bearings of the wheels and the rear swing. Maybe its only the retaining ring of the bearings, that do a bad job...

Anyway, I have now 3000km on my FX 2013, and I had to change two times the front wheel bearings and one time the rear whell bearings ans well as one time the swing arm.

I have to admit that I do ride in dirty, slashy areas too, because I don´t want to carry my FX over a water-puddle.

So my result is: FX is and motorbike with an enduro look, but better to stay on the asphalt or gravel street. And keep away from water...

I just wonder, because, if you touch the motor outside, ist has only about 40 degrees Celsius. So why should it be inside much more?
Of course, there is an temperature resistance between the copper coils and the outside aluminium housing. But to keep this resistance
 as little as possible should be the goal at building electric motors.

Hi Guys!

For the European dirt-riders along you, the Mont Chaberton is maybe a known place to be at least once a lifetime.
The peak holds an old ruin from the first world war. An article in German language can be found here: https://westalpen.wordpress.com/2011/09/26/mont-chaberton/

But let´s talk about the ride:

I started riding from Susa Valley, in about 1000m height above sea level.
The estimated distance to beat was "only" about 50km, but i contained about 2500 heightmeters to climb.

At km 20 and a climb up to 2200 meters my "fuel"gauge looked not too good. Even by riding an energy saving style it looked not like if I´m going to see the peak.

But we contiunued the climb, even if I would not make it up to the top.
As we arrived on the colle Chaberton at 2700m, the gauge showed only one bar left. Still about 400m to climb....

After a thrilling remaining ride, I arrived at the top of the mountain with just a little power left.
But I was thinking positive, loading enough energy on the way down to manage also the 250m high climb on the way back.
At the end, after 57km and 3028 meters uphill,  I rolled into the camping site with an 5% leftover of power.


But i did it!
FIrst electric motorcycle on top of Mont Chaberton....

Yes, with my 2013 FX it´s the same. If you ride hard with lot of the time in the upper torque areas, the overheat-symbol is lit.
Fortunately this does not happen when the temperatures drop to 20 degrees Celsius.
The german importer of Zero did some tests with oil-filled motors to get the heat better and faster to the outside of the housing.

The researchers found a way to process natural silk to create carbon-based nanosheets that could potentially be used in energy storage devices. Their material stores five times more lithium than graphite can—a capacity that is critical to improving battery performance. It also worked for over 10,000 cycles with only a 9% loss in stability. The researchers successfully incorporated their material in prototype batteries and supercapacitors in a one-step method that could easily be scaled up, the researchers noted.

Hi Ray,

when I was dismounting the swingarm, all bearings were pressed in line with the surface of the swingarm.
And so i pressed the new bearings in. I´m just complaining, because I think with other bushings or a "seat" inside the swingarm
it is possible to keep the bearings free of axial force.

Hi,

a few days ago I was changing the front sprocket of my FX. Part of that work was to remove the swingarm.
As I was dismounting the swingarm, I was surprised to see, how the swingarm is kept in position.
Not only that the bearings are ball-type instead of needles, but the screw nuts left and right of the swingarm were made as a bushing, fitting into the bearing.
On the outer side of the swingarm-bearing (looking to the frame) there was no second bushing. So - if you tighten the Screw later,
you will start to pull the bearing out of its seat. Strange solution of an easy duty, as I think.
Or maybe in my FX parts are missing?
Additional, all bearings were out of order, after 1600kms of use, about 50% of them offroad use. Sealing against mud and water is insufficient.

What do you think about the system, how the swingarm is mounted?

I just replaced the front sprocket of my FX 2013. The best way is to remove the swingarm.
For that, remove the rear wheel, the lower screw of the suspension and the screws, which holds the brake-line.
remove both Screws at the swingarm-axle.

Then you have access to the sprocket.
