I don't think I have an especially high standard, but the electric motorcycle of my dreams has the 3 requirements:
- OK range. It should be able to travel about 50km from 100%-20% SOC at a relatively steady speed of 80km/h/50mph in summer weather. Not active driving, just keeping up with regular traffic in Norway.
- OK charging capabilities. This, combined with the next requirement is likely the issue. I'd like to be able to charge from ~10-20% SOC to 70-80% SOC in preferably one hour, but two would be acceptable via AC mode 3 or DC.
- OK price. I don't want to spend as much as a new(ish) Zero SR/S or DSR/X, Energica Xperia or similar. Ideally I'd like to spend about 50k NOK/4,7k USD.
I've researched a bit and have come up with the following:
- 2016-2017 Zero S(R)/DS(R) with charge tank. These used to be priced at about 70k NOK/6,5k USD in Norway, but the cheapest I can find now costs about 120k NOK/11250 USD.
- BMW CE 04. These used to cost about 100k NOK/9400 USD new all inclusive, including quick charger, but now costs upward of 150k NOK/14k USD new.
- Energicas are still too expensive and few and far between.
- The cheaper options don't seem to accept OK charging capabilities. I'm not sure I understand why, but i guess it has to do with battery pack temperature becoming too high. Sondors Metacycle was supposed to come with a "charge tank"-like accessory, but I haven't read anything about that after they've started selling them.
I think I'll probably have to wait a bit until the EV 2W market is more mature?
Thoughts?
