I agree about the life-changing aspect. I was knee-deep into gas bikes, having owned 12 motorcycles, with 3 gas bikes in my stable when I introduced my FX 5.7. The FX made short work out of the other bikes within a couple months - rendering them redundant. I didn't feel like riding the gas bikes anymore as the Zero utterly changed what I expected out of motorcycling. I felt that the Zero absolutely obliterates these bikes in terms of convenience, fun, quality of acceleration, etc. I no longer felt that the need to constantly burn oil right under my arse, creating noise, smog, etc. should be part of my biking experience. I'm now focusing upon paying off the FX quickly so I can get my hands on the next awesome Zero. I sold off two bikes (VTR-1000, ZX-636R) and now only have a SV650 as my backup.

Would LOVE to ride the SR. My FX 5.7, with 44 hp and 70 ft/lb torque, feels *faster* than my SV650 with flipped numbers, 70 hp / 45 ft/lb torque. The future of motorcycling looks to be freaking awesome.

My dealer (BMW dealership that brings in Zeros on the side) gave it to me along with the bike and they didn't know what it did

Also, my left-hand mirror is starting to become loose. When I go through my city's goatty roads, the mirror portion shakes looser and looser from its stalk until my mirror's hanging nearly facedown. Positioning it a certain way helps keep it in place, but I'd rather keep it in its original position. Is there a known fix for this?

Otherwise, love my FX 5.7. Now up to 1,600 miles on it, and just started teaching and commuting for the year and am now head-butting with my college's Parking Services because they don't like me parking on campus sidewalks to suck power from outlets of lamp-poles. My school is a well-regarded tech college, yet it has yet to get with them times and start installing convenient charging points at actual parking areas. 

Does anyone have any data on the dB level of electric motorcycles - in particular or in general? Just wondering.

6'4'' here, my 2014 FX feels great in size, even more than my SV650 with handlebar and seat modifications. I have a 34'' inseam.

Bike is crazy awesome. Picked it up on Thursday, and I'm addicted to it. It's like a giant smartphone that flings me furiously around town. I already have a good supply of stories to tell about people's reactions to it, being the first person to own a FX in the region (I saw someone riding a DS/S around here a few weeks ago).

I have owned 12 gasoline-powered motorcycles in the last 5 years, and I have to say that the FX is the best motorcycle I've had. It trumps everything else, seriously. It completely fits me - someone who rides around the city for a half-hour to a hour (for fun, just about daily) and then comes home to plug it in to recoup the depleted battery (so NICE! no stupid gas stations!). I commute to work 4 miles each way from the city into the suburbs. Perfect. The quietness factor is super-sweet, as someone who respects his surroundings and neighbors. I pay my utility for wind power for the electricity used by the bike, so my climate change guilt has been greatly assuaged.

Any one have any caveats about the bike? I bought the bike thinking that Zero had hammered out bugs from previous iterations. I ride a lot so I need to know about anything so I can prepare. My dealership doesn't seem to know much about those bikes (facepalm).

One more question: How soon should I be able to aggressively twist the throttle? I'm used to warming up my ICE motorcycles, bringing them up to temperature before I can do some railing (I am hard on my bikes).

Yet another question: is the rear shock swappable? So far I like the suspension as it is, but I'm just wondering if anything else can be tossed in. I come from the world of the SV650, where there are plenty of aftermarket options to be swapped in those bikes.
