Looks like us 2012 XU owners do not generate a lot of  interest now that the newer and vastly different models are out. Sorry I can not advise on which throttle might work although it seems it has a micro switch to turn on the regenerative braking. At least that is what it feels like to me when I close the throttle. My XU has 1300 miles on it. Every few hundred miles the speedometer unit seems to loose contact with the motorcycle and will not show battery charge or speed. It runs fine and the problem goes away shortly after appearing. It does not seem to be any connector problem I can find. Maybe that is what happen to yours. I just drove up Mt Washington a 2nd time last weekend. When I reached the top it seemed like it continued to run slowly when I closed the throttle. It was a little awkward stopping but that has not happened again so far.

It was a joy to meet you, Ben, after reading about your long Zero ride this summer. Sorry I missed DoctorBass. You guys are pushing the limits for the rest of us. I like my XU too much to part with even though the 30 mile range limits my use. A new Zero S is too pricey but now I am thinking I need to sell a couple gas guzzling bikes and look for a used S.

On Saturday September 13 I rode my 2012 Zero XU to the summit of Mt Washington on the Alternate Energy Summit run. It took 6 bars up so I had 4 left from the 7.5 mile 4600 foot climb. Coming down I got two bars back. My bike is stock with 1000 miles on it. Had no problems. It was around 55F at the bottom and 40F at the top. Attached is a photo of Ben and me and his 2012 Zero S and my 2012 Zero XU at the summit. I believe there was another Zero S from Quebec that also made the trip to the top. Lots of interesting vehicles of all types.
