Hi Protomech !
...and thank you.
We designed this transmission because we did not want to be too far from the standard good geometry.
You know that it's very important to put the pinion and the swingarm axle at the right place.
So we think that we avoid problems coming from the interaction between transmission and suspension.
We loose a little power but we think the suspension works better.
It's also easier to change pinion and sprocket and choose the best ratio.

We also think that the motor cooling is more efficient with the motor mounted in front.
But I don't know at the moment if we reach the thermal limit in the controller first or in the motor.

We did not make enough testing yet with this powertrain. And it's winter for the moment !

With the 2012 powertrain it was critical for both components. We had to slow down or stop very soon.
How can you do racing in the Californian desert ? ?

To tyskmoped : yes we use the Zero complete wiring harness.
Last year, it was possible to buy parts. It seems to be impossible now. :(

We wanted to participate to the european events of electric motorcycle racing. But this championship has no more success.
In France, no promoter accept electric motorcycles on the largest tracks (like Le Mans, Magny-Cours....).

That's why we would like to create a new championship on short raceways.
Our bikes would also be interesting for young learning pilots.
We are supported by the french federation of motorcycle (FFM) but our project cannot go further if we do not find an agreement with a supplier.
We are a too small team to do everything by ourselves. Motorcycle is a small industry and "racing motorcycle" even smaller....

Thank you !  :D

Yes, these are complete ZERO powertrains.
But we change everything around :
The frame is coming from a Yamaha YZF 125 R. It's cutted in the middel.
The lateral beam are replaced by a mesh of tubes.
Machined aluminium plates are used to attache the motor.
The transmission is also modified with a primary with a synchronous belt and a secondary with a chain.
Everything is done to make the bike more efficient on the track.
For example the ground clearance is much higher (compare with a standard ZERO).
We also made some electrical adjustments : to fit our transmission, the motor turns the other way.
The max speed and regen can be limited.

Now it's on the track (Circuit CAROLE, near Paris).

I also work as an engineer for building special vehicles.
It's a great pleasure to communicate with the people here.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: Amps for charging Zero S
« on: November 04, 2013, 03:00:36 AM »
I think the integrated charger uses 1,3 kW. That means approximatively 12 amps with a 110 V supply and 6 amps with 220 V. Is it correct ?
